Last year more than 25 million visitors travelled to Portugal and the World Travel & Tourism Council recently revealed that the tourism sector’s economic contribution is expected to exceed €54B in 2024, supporting more than one million jobs. Hilton, which has been present in Portugal since 2007, now has 25 hotels and over the past few years we’ve truly capitalised on owners’ growing appetite for our award-winning brands and rising traveller demand.      We’ve introduced several new brands, with particularly strong growth for our Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry by Hilton brands, including the recently opened DUO Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton. We expect at least 11 hotels to join our Portuguese portfolio in the coming years, including the recently announced Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport and the Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton - our first property in the lesser explored Setúbal region.

#ExpertOpinion! Hospitality industry - Squeezing revenue beyond hotel rooms Hoteliers are starting to realise that room rates alone can’t drive the profits they need. As many reach a ceiling when it comes to average daily rates (ADR), there’s a question mark hanging over how to boost the bottom line. It has to come from other revenue streams, but many are struggling to make this work. Here’s a closer look at where the opportunities lie. Hotel room rates have been increasing for a while now. Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) is up by 17% in Europe compared to January 2020 (HotStats). Estimates of the increase in ADR at high end hotels suggest a 50% increase since pre-pandemic levels (Travel Weekly). But hoteliers are increasingly aware that these rates cannot continue to climb indefinitely. The investment space in hospitality brands and technology is really hotting up again! 🔥 Across our partnership we are currently working on a number of engagements at Think Hospitality Consulting with investors helping to source and analyse prospective investments in both hospitality businesses and restaurant technologies in Europe, Middle East and North America. While we are supporting PE funds on the technology side, on the brand side we are seeing far more interest from places you might not expect it. Directly from private offices of UHNW’s; hotel companies looking at acquiring multi-concept restaurant portfolios to drive more value for asset owners; suppliers looking for new routes to market; retailers looking to diversify and add more reasons to visit to their bricks and mortar stores and trade buyers looking to move multi brand.
