I wrote this blog in 2016! 30th July 2016 - 8:30pm to be precise. I think I turned out to be right. 😉 I just stumbled across it while I've been refreshing some articles. Here were my key points at the time: Massive Growth Opportunity - The growth potential for Power BI is enormous, positioning it to become the most used enterprise analytical tool worldwide. Low Price for High Value - The cost of Power BI is significantly low compared to the value it provides. Microsoft has invested heavily in this technology, offering it at a very affordable price. Impressive Features and Ease of Use - Power BI offers a wide range of features that make analysis in a corporate environment more scalable and efficient. It is easy to get started and automate tasks previously done in Excel and PowerPoint. Evolving Ecosystem - Microsoft is building an exciting ecosystem around Power BI, integrating it with other tools like Power Apps and Microsoft Flow to enhance business processes. Office 365 Integration - Power BI seamlessly integrates with Office 365, making it a natural extension for enterprises already using Microsoft's suite of tools. Strong Marketing by Microsoft - Microsoft's extensive distribution platform and network effects make it challenging for other visualization tools to compete in the long term. Hello Everyone, I'm excited to share an insight report for the hotel revenue 📊 team! Process includes: 1) Importing and verifying data. few transformations and cleaning in power query 2) Data modeling 3) Identifying & Creating Measures using DAX. 4) Validating all data 5) Creating a Dashboard using appropriate Visualization. Provide Insights to the Revenue Team in the Hospitality Domain. Using the data visualization capabilities of Power BI, I analyzed various aspects of hotel revenue. This report provides insight into the hospitality industry, with interactive charts to help you filter and explore the data yourself. During the development of this report, it helped me a lot in analyzing data, transforming it using Power Query, creating metrics, and conditional columns using DAX. The report uses interactive visualization and data modeling to make complex datasets easier to understand and explore. With just a few clicks, you can drill down, drill, and page through to specific data points, and identify trends, patterns, and correlations that might otherwise be difficult to see. Here are the steps I followed to create this dashboard: Before starting to create this dashboard, I first researched/collected the KPIs of the hospitality industry. Connect to the data source, .CSV data, and import the data into Power Bi Desktop in import mode. Perform data transformations using Power Query and DAX and create data modeling relationships between tables using star schemas. Create a variety of visualizations, such as charts, tables, and cards, to present data in meaningful ways. Use custom conditional formatting icons for a better user experience. Project Insights- •Overall revenue generated on weekdays is $1B and weekend is $524M •Mumbai has generated the highest revenue(660.6M) followed by Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi •Delhi has the highest occupancy of 60.55% and average rating of 3.8 •AtliQ bay has the highest number of Occupancy rate(66%) •AtliQ Exotica performs better compared to all other types of properties with 320M revenue, average rating of 3.62, occupancy at 57.26% and Cancellation rate at 17.42%. •AtliQ has lost around $ 199M due to cancellation •Elite type rooms has highest number bookings as well as cancellation rate View the complete project on Github: https://lnkd.in/gp-nVinp Special thanks to Dhaval Patel, Hemanand Vadivel for your invaluable guidance and support. There are many ways like Aggregating data, right data types, disable refresh for static data etc.. One of those methods is to use performance analyser tool 📌 What Is the Power BI Performance Analyzer? The Performance Analyzer is a diagnostic tool in Power BI Desktop that measures the performance of your report visuals, showing you how long each visual takes to load. 📖 How to Use the Performance Analyzer: 1. Open the Report in Power BI Desktop Make sure the report you want to analyze is open. 2. Enable the Performance Analyzer Go to the View tab and select Performance Analyzer to open the pane. 3. Start Recording Click Start Recording and then interact with your report (e.g., change filters or slicers). The Performance Analyzer logs the load time of each visual as you interact with them. 4. Review the Results The recorded results display how long each visual takes to render, broken down into categories: DAX Query, Visual Display, and Other. Identify visuals with high load times that could benefit from optimization. 5. Recently asked interview question for a Power BI Developer at Indegene. Q) 1. What is difference between All, Allselected , Allexcept function ? ➡️ ALL removes all filters applied to the table or column. It ignores all slicers, visuals, and external filters. Example: If filters are applied to Region and Product, using ALL(Sales) removes both. ➡️ ALLSELECTED removes filters applied inside a visual but respects filters applied through slicers or external visuals. Example: If a slicer sets Region = East and the chart filters Product = Bikes, ALLSELECTED(Sales) keeps the slicer filter (Region = East) but ignores the chart filter (Product = Bikes). ➡️ ALLEXCEPT removes all filters except the ones specified. Example: If you use ALLEXCEPT(Sales, Sales[Region]), it removes all filters except the one on Region. one line:- ALL: Remove all filters. ALLSELECTED: Keep slicer filters, ignore visual filters. ALLEXCEPT: Keep only specific filters, remove the rest. Does anyone use Collections in Tableau Server? I'd like to better understand when to use them vs Favourites. I have some ideas - but each has apparent limitations. 1. Create a collection to share with different user groups. For example, these dashboards are most useful for Sales people. This collection contains what is most important to Finance. Etc. However, it doesn't seem possible to share a collection with a Tableau Group. And sharing with each user one by one is painful. 2. Create dashboard packs. Yes, even in 2024 it's not unusual to print before a meeting. There are often times when someone needs a dashboard from workbook A, a couple of dashboards from workbook B, etc. It would be great if it was possible to download a collection in one hit, creating one document. However, it doesn't seem possible to download a collection to produce one document. Do I have anything incorrect here? Am I missing something else about Collections? #tableau
