Glad to have my comments on the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) SDR included in Ignites Europe last week - a pertinent topic throughout the asset management industry this year. While the FCA introduced the SDR Mixed Goals label to mitigate grey areas between labels and ultimately broaden the regime, this is unfortunately not coming to fruition. It is already proving difficult enough for firms to gain approval for individual labels, with extensive criteria and work required that then needs replicated across each label in the Mixed Goals fund. Additionally, firms must also ensure this is clear and concise enough for retail investors to understand. A challenging quarter ahead for both asset managers applying for SDR labels and those opting for non-labelled products - with very little sign of slowing down in 2025.
