The end of the year is fast approaching and my corporate clients are reassessing their support requirements which has meant they are no longer requiring the services of Zia IT Support Services. For me its a business decision with many contributing factors from budgets, strategies, projects and process alignment. Whilst i have been with these 2 clients i have learnt and helped a lot with their immediate requirements over the last 2 and a bit years. I have provided the services they required at the time and as we all know, things within the IT world can change very quickly and resources diverted to other projects new FTE hires and business objectives aligning to a new way of working. The life of a contractor is one that i love, being able to help out for a specific time frame or for a specific project. I know the reasons behind the contracts finishing is not down to me or my abilities to support the clients, i am grateful that they have provided a hopeful start up IT support company the work and belief to carry on providing the special support to new clients. I started Zia IT Support Services with one purpose, to provide a holistic IT support service to as many clients who need it. Clients that don't understand Tech or the fast paced nature of windows upgrades, Office 365 or simply a mobile phone upgrade :-) I also look forward to reassessing the services Zia IT can provide to its clients next year, the focus is still growth of the company and its service offerings. Its a cut throat world we live in and whilst Zia have grown its client base significantly over the 3 years, we need to see and listen to what our clients want and keep competitive in the local IT support market. ❗ Shocking statistics from the ONS via IT Now, the magazine from the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, reveal the concerning gender gap in the UK IT workforce. The number of female IT specialists has seen slow growth over the past 5 years: - 380,000 in 2022 (20%) - 356,000 in 2021 (20%) - 312,000 in 2020 (19%) - 249,000 in 2019 (17%) - 226,000 in 2018 (16%) Female representation in IT also varies by job type, from 1 in 20 IT engineers to 1 in 3 IT project or programme managers. While the recent trend predicts gender parity in 19 years, the longer trend (from 2005 to 2023) suggests it will take around 280 years.😲 These statistics underscore the urgent need for initiatives supporting women in tech. It's crucial for both men and women to work towards increasing female representation in the IT workforce without waiting decades. Adopt vs Adapt. Birmingham City Council seems to be being used as an example to highlight the importance of "adopting" Oracle's out of the box solution(s) rather than "adapting" and attempting to customise.
