Are you #OpentoWork ? Have you been put off having the "Open to Work" banner on your profile because of what pseudo experts, that have never worked in recruitment, said in a post? I have seen a number of posts and reposts of so called experts creating click bait by saying the Open to Work banner is desperate. The Open to Work Banner was created by LinkedIn to help people that want a job to be seen, the same as #Hiring is used by employers to let people know they are hiring. Recruiters want to be able to find the people that are open to a new job. If you don't use the Open to Work Banner, our clients struggle to fill their vacancies and you struggle to get that great job we want to talk to you about. #LinkedIn was originally created to help people find a job through online networking, don't be put off by Social Media Guru that don't have a clue about recruitment. If you are unsure about your job search, talk to a recruiter, we are the experts after all.

General election. Seasonality. Tough market. The perfect storm? I wish this month's Firefish Software recruitment industry performance update were more positive, but it's been a challenging month across perm, temp and contract. TL;DR🚀: - The total volume of placements decreased by 8%. - Temporary & contract placements decreased by 6%. - Permanent placements decreased by 10%. Further insights📖: - Jobs created decreased by 8% in June however placements made were still 2% higher than June 2023. - Total applications decreased by 14% on the month. - Only the Finance & Accountancy sector delivered positive growth on May. Tech Folk. The best way to find a new job. Take a cursory look at your inmails from recruiters. Choose the best three based on their relevance to your actual skills/interest and how much the recruiter seems to understand the market Call them, ask who their clients are (are they companies you’re interested in?) If so, build a passive relationship, tell them what companies/roles would interest you and you would want to see moving forwards. If you are currently looking for a new JavaScript job ( contract or perm ) I would highly recommend the following... ✅ Update LinkedIn profile Ensure it's easy for recruiters to find you and understand your skills. Use relevant keywords. ✅ Update CV Make sure all the latest roles, tech etc has been added. Have a friend or specialist recruiter review it for advice. ✅Get active on LinkedIn Connect with the best recruiters in your industry. Follow their companies and engage with their content. ✅ Network Reach out to former employers and colleagues. Find a specialist recruiter and let them know you're open to new opportunities. ✅Keep at it Job hunting can be tough, especially right now. Be mindful of your energy and treat the process like a job. We have roles from clients wanting contingent recruiters with 12 month's experience, through to Partners for Tier 1 Search agencies (only specialist markets). The demand for recruiters across most markets, in London is as busy as I have seen for 2 years. My phone has quite literally not stopped ringing from clients since we have been back. Grad level requirements are massively on the up too. If you are well looked after, well compensated, and genuinly appreciated, my advice is to stay. The grass is not always greener. If you are not valued, treated like a number, and do not have the opportunity you desire, then I can put that right... very easily! With 21 years operating across Search, and Contingent recruitment, we have more roles than we know what to do with. I am not here to pitch a role(s). ATS/CRM Recommendations please: Can anyone recommend an ATS/CRM that can do the following: - show a 1 page visual of all live jobs, that shows candidates by stage - is shareable with anyone where they can access easily with a link - is real time so, said link can be viewed anytime by any of the hiring stakeholder/HR & TA OR agency recruiter (bonus point if I as a candidate can see which stage I am at) I made a shitty mock up on microsoft word to visualise it. The key is, live link, viewable by multiple parties that shows candidate names per stage I am yet to see this in such an accessible way Help - I want to make the world a better and more efficient place...

⛔ The recruitment system is broken. ⛔ Just had a look at the number of applicants we have received over the last 5 days at Cognify Search... 962!! This week we have submitted over 30 data candidates to our clients. Only one of these candidates have come from our adverts (admittedly we sill have around 1/3 to review).. ⛔ Easy apply is creating too much noise! ⛔ Much of the noise comes from candidates who have very few of the skills required ⛔ Most are not based in the UK ⛔ Many companies only accept candidates who are British Citizen, have ILR or Settled status. ⛔ There is a disconnect between candidates and hiring companies in terms of remote and hybrid working. ⛔ Data is becoming more silo'd, companies are looking for a specialist within a specialist.

This time of year can be a tricky one... Summer is pretty much here and holiday season has begun, especially in Europe. However IBC is sneaking up on us and with budgets set - hiring needs have become pressing for many. The thing is throughout June, July and August recruitment process can slow down as people are in and out. To get ahead of this, it's worth considering: ☀️ Is everything signed off? Budget agreed? We don't want to loose time later. ☀️ When can interviews happen? Can interview rounds be scheduled in key stakeholders diaries sooner rather than later to avoid delays? ☀️ Keep candidates up to date. Most people don't mind waiting, but being out of the loop is far from ideal. ☀️Remember candidates have holidays too - plus they could also be juggling school holiday timetables. ☀️ If you want somebody in place for September you need to start the process now. #neuco #hiring #summerrecruitment

Here is a list of the key reasons I’ve heard from agencies over the last 8 years that I actually agree with as to why measuring the candidate experience isn’t a priority for them right now. There isnt one! Not a single one. Candidates deserve the best service you can give and if you aren’t measuring it you can’t improve it. No one is perfect but we can all improve.
