After England's tough loss to Spain in the Euros this weekend (it's coming home in two years) and the news today of Gareth Southgate stepping down as manager, it was only right for me to use this share to reflect on the nature of setbacks and how sports and BDR/Sales roles are closely related. Both face challenges, experience setbacks and yet both constantly chase the dream of reaching the winner's circle, be it President's Club for Sales or winning championships and titles for footballers. Here are a few thoughts on bouncing back and staying focused on the end game: - Strategic Adjustments: Just as the England team made tactical changes to turn the tide in their favour, BDRs/Sales reps need to adjust their strategies based on performance data and feedback. End each week and month strong by reassessing your approach and making necessary adjustments to meet your goals. - Endurance: Footballers push through to the final whistle (England late winners showed that grit) and we must push through to the end of each quarter. The effort you put in at the end can determine your overall success for the year. Keep your energy high and stay focused on your targets. - Tactics: The ability to switch tactics helped England secure late heroics! Similarly, being flexible and open to changing your sales tactics can help you close deals and set meetings even in the final hours of a day/month/quarter. - Strong Finish: BDRs/Sales Reps must strive to close the month and quarter with a strong finish, just as England fought hard to win games in final minutes. Those last minute pushes can make a significant difference in your overall performance. - Support: Successful teams rely on the collective effort of every player/member. Lean on your team, share insights and support each other to ensure everyone is contributing to the win. A collaborative effort often leads to the best outcomes. To all the BDRs and Sales reps out there, let's take inspiration from the teams that show resilience and strategic adjustments. Stay focused, keep pushing to the very end and remember that strong finishes at the end of each week, month and quarter are what help us win the year. Keep fighting, stay adaptable and aim for the win!

The Rugby Football League 🤝 Data Apprenticeships. Over the last few months we've been having more and more conversations with sports organisations who are exploring the world of apprenticeships and there is one common denominator - DATA DATA DATA. In our latest case study, Senior Data Analyst - Matt Turner, from RFL tells us all about his experiences of hiring a Data Apprentice...
