Discussing Snowflake’s newly-launched cost recommendation capabilities 💫 In this #SnowflakeSummit discussion, #theCUBE’s Rebecca M. Knight sits with Josh Klahr, head of data warehouse at Snowflake, to explore their expenditure management capabilities with the latest “Cost Insights” feature. “Customers want visibility into their credit consuming areas of spend. As we identified an expensive query or a table generating a bunch of credits when it gets reclustered, customers needed help identifying actions to maintain performance while reducing the cost. So, one of the things we just launched this week is Cost Insights,” shares Klahr. “It proactively looks within the customer's environments, identifies high sources of spend or high areas of bad performance, and makes recommendations. For example, here's a table that you've been storing that's over 100 terabytes and it hasn't been queried in the past month. As the deployment grows, there's a bunch of objects that get created,” he adds. “Just like that budgeting app on your phone, we now give recommendations on how you might spend less or how you might improve performance… It is lots of AI and machine learning in the background.
