Recently I was at an event at Google, and they were ranking the top technological-ecosystems in the world. Tel Aviv was number 3. Even after the last year, we have demonstrated an incredible commitment to our ideas, our development, and yes — our dreams. One of the most beautiful aspects to me about Dreemz is how it’s part of this larger picture of Israeli-Tech-sector resilience. By putting our companies, and our visions, out there in these unprecedented times, it helps define companies like Dreemz as part of the very fabric of innovation and perseverance that defines Israeli-tech. We’re not just promoting one vision — we’re trying to foster a culture of optimism and collaboration, even when many peoples’ instincts try and get them to behave more cautiously. I believe that actively showcasing Dreemz’s progress, success, and adaptability, demonstrates that the broader Israeli-tech sector is strong, and unified. Amazing news for Israel, but maybe not so great news for the Israeli tech scene? Ilya Sutskever Raises $1 Billion for his New AI Venture! Bottom Line: Ilia Sutskever, one of OpenAI’s co-founders, has raised $1 billion for his new company, which aims to develop Super-Intelligence—an AI that can outperform human cognitive tasks with much (much) greater intelligence and efficiency. Just three months after announcing his new venture—Safe SuperIntelligence (which I wrote about previously) — it was revealed just a few days ago that Sutskever, a former Israeli and one of the brightest minds in the industry, has secured $1 billion at a $5 billion valuation. The funding round, of course, includes some of the most renowned investors in the world (Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and others). Sutskever founded the venture alongside @Daniel Levy, who worked with him at OpenAI, and investor @Daniel Gross. Pay attention to the word *Safe* in the company's name—it’s a core part of the mission these entrepreneurs have set for themselves. Sutskever says the company is laser-focused on one goal: creating the "holy grail" of AI research—Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—which would be capable of performing any cognitive process humans can, including language processing, voice recognition, vision, understanding context, decision-making, and more. Slightly less great news for the local tech scene: A well-funded company is about to recruit top researchers, scientists, and developers locally.  Bigger picture — this is a big wow for all of us here in Israel. An Israeli startup that uses sophisticated AI software to dub movies and shows into foreign languages has launched its new Enterprise Plan, which includes API integration to meet an increasing need for scalable, high-quality localization solutions by major Hollywood studios and global dubbing houses. By using deep learning algorithms, Deepdub’s AI dubbing software can be trained to quickly learn the patterns of a particular voice sample and convey the voice actor’s specific tone and emotion, as well as adapt to different local cultural contexts and accents from country to country. “This technology caters perfectly to the growing economic and production demands of Hollywood and dubbing studios worldwide. Yesterday at the Calcalist כלכליסט, Google and Playtika Gaming summit in Israel, I spoke about the impact of GenAI on the future of gaming. I was followed by Ilan Graicer, co-founder and CEO of our portfolio company Playo.ai who gave a live demo of their awesome AI-generated game and tech (sharing my slides below) According to the recent survey by Andreessen Horowitz (of 650 game developers) 73% of game devs already use generative AI and 88% plan to implement it soon. In my presentation, I highlighted: ✨ How developers are using AI for asset creation, procedural world-building, and animation ✨ The growing adoption of AI for intelligent NPCs, real-time narratives, and personalised gameplay ✨ The fact that GenAI for gaming is expected to grow by 100% in the next four years (with annual CAGR of 18.7% according to reports). We’re excited about the future of gaming and its intersection with generative AI, and we’re proud to support this evolution at Remagine Ventures. As we close out 2024, we’re reflecting on a year that pushed Israeli tech to its limits—and once again, we rose to the challenge. At F2, our portfolio companies hit major milestones, with several securing significant growth rounds (shoutout to Faye, Astrix Security and justt).
