Human rights breaches now massive D&O worry Breach of human rights within or by business operations has risen from a niche concern by Directors and Officers in 2021 to a leading area by 2025. That was the takeaway from Willis – a WTW business, in collaboration with Clyde & Co., in its latest Directors and Officers Liability Insurance Survey. The Loan Market Association (LMA), supported by King & Spalding, published its new Sustainable Finance Insights report on “Greenwashing, Understanding and navigating the impact for the loan market”. In it, the LMA said that the sustainable finance market has evolved rapidly since that first green bond nearly 20 years ago. It said that as part of this green finance revolution, the Green Loan Principles (GLP) in 2017, the publication of the Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles (2019) (SLLP) and Social Loan Principles (2021) (SLP) represented further milestones in the development of the sustainable finance market, had all become industry staples. Active managers see rises in 2024 amid a flat market New report from Morningstar detailed the 2024 accounts for active managers across bonds and equities and shows some weaknesses. The “European Active/Passive Barometer Report: Year-End 2024” report showed that “passive equity and fixed-income funds still outperform the market compared to their active peers in the long term”. “The average one-year success rate for active equity managers in the group of categories analysed rose slightly in 2024 to 29.1% from 28.7% in 2023, however over the past decade it remained disappointingly low at 14.2%,” said Jose Garcia-Zarate, Senior Principal of Manager Research. #fees #investmentoperations #activefundmanger #passivefundmanager #fundmanagement #investment Read more here 👇

One in five European funds are now classed as ‘sustainable’ up from just 6% in 2019 to €2.2 trillion in net assets. This is according to a new report from ALFI - Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (#ALFI), which released its third edition of the “European Sustainable Investment Funds Study”, which was produced in partnership with Morningstar and Tameo. Nearly a quarter (23%) of all #Article8 funds remain at risk of #greenwashing, said a new report – this is compared to just 3% of #Article9 funds being at risk. The 2025 ESG and Sustainable Barometer report, by data provider MainStreet Partners, which analyses over 9500 investment strategies managed by more than 460 asset managers, revealed that the proportion of Article 9 funds that have a greenwashing risk has reduced over time. Asset owners demand transparency around responsible investing A new report said that there is growing demand for transparency in reporting from asset managers by asset owners, according to the latest #CerulliEdge — U.S. Institutional Edition, from Cerulli Associates. Due to this increasing pressure from stakeholders – which includes regulators, clients, and the public - asset owners are now requiring asset managers to provide clear and comprehensive reports on ESG-related activities. “This demand for transparency reflects the broader push for responsible and accountable business practices across industries,” said Gloria Pais from Cerulli. New research revealed over half of fund administrators (55%) are struggling with data acquisition and governance due to the rapid growth of private markets. The report from service providers Accelex and FactSet said the rapid growth of private markets is intensifying data challenges for #fundadministrators. “Private markets' rapid growth has fundamentally reshaped the demands of the buy-side,” said David Mellars, CFA, Senior Vice President and Senior Director of Buy-Side Middle Office Product Management at FactSet.
