Dores Drop Midweek

Brooke Baker registered 10th career hat trick

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rain Adkins led all scorers with five points to help lift Louisville past Vanderbilt in a 13-9 decision on Wednesday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead, scoring just 54 seconds into the contest, then scoring three more unanswered until Nancy Halleron got Vandy on the board 1-3 after the opening frame. Louisville shut out the Dores on the draw circle the first 6-0. The Dores scored three straight goals to even the score, led by a pair of goals from Brooke Baker. The Cards would get one more before the break to lead 5-4. Louisville outscored Vandy 5-1 in the third frame but the Dores opened the fourth with back-to-back goals less than a minute apart to close the gap. Despite the late Commodore surge, Louisville hung on to secure the victory.

Vanderbilt (2-4) had goals from six different scorers, led by Baker’s 10th career hat trick. Baker also picked up a career-high tying four ground balls, won three draw controls and caused one turnover. Nancy Halleron added two goals for the Dores and dished one assist while picking up two ground balls. Molly Finlay posted an impressive behind-the-back, no-look goal off Halleron’s assist.

Louisville (4-3) also had six scored led by Adkins, who posted five points off four gals and an assist. Olivia Scroogie won five draw controls for the Cards, while Lauren Figas and Negai Nakazawa each added three. In cage, J Pleck registered a career-best 16 saves, the most by any goalie the Commodores have faced this season.

Vandy will hit the road on Saturday to visit Arizona State. Opening draw will be at noon CT and shown on ESPN+.
