NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lexi Emonds led all scorers with a seven-point performance as No. 20/18 Clemson spoiled Vanderbilt’s home opener in a 20-12 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 8-3 lead after the opening frame, but a 7-1 run from Clemson lifted them to a 10-goal advantage just after halftime. Vandy clawed back in the second half, trading goals with the Tigers throughout the third quarter. The Dores found momentum in the final period with back-to-back goals from Kemper Robinson, Nancy Halleron, and freshman duo Anna Szporn and Shea Panzik, but Clemson ultimately held on for the win.

Jaime Biskup and Robinson led Vanderbilt (1-1), each tallying a hat trick. Panzik also posted three points on the day, registering two assists and one goal, the first of her collegiate career. Freshman Szporn also registered her first career goal. In cage, Emme Martin made her first appearance making two saves. Maddie Barkate added nine draw controls for the Commodores.

Clemson (2-0) had nine different goal scores, led by Emonds’ seven points off five goals and two assists. Kayla Macleod scored four goals off six shots and Lindsey Marshall tallied three scores. Kira Balis posted a game-high 10 draw controls while Maggie Jordan added five.
