Gigi Hadid Paired This Polarizing Denim Trend With the Most Unexpected Shoe-and-Sock Combination

Forget the skinny jeans renaissance—Gigi Hadid is bringing back the mom jean. Hadid is a street style connoisseur—so much so that she launched her own ready-to-wear line (Guest in Residence). So, if there's anyone that can challenge the denim status quo, it's the super model, and she did just by wearing a pair of polarizing jeans—and shoes and socks—during Paris Fashion Week.

The model was photographed making her way to a Schiaparelli fitting in black, straight-leg Levi's with a cropped cuffed hem and a slouchy fit. She belted the pants and styled them with a cream Sold Out NYC quarter button-up sweater layered over a black tee and a striped collared shacket. For footwear, Hadid's choice was somehow even more controversial than her jeans: she wore orange-and-white striped socks and black Jeffrey Campbell flats.

Hadid accessorized with black oval sunglasses and a matching handbag and styled her blonde hair—which was silver just earlier this week—in tousled, side-parted waves.

On Tuesday, Hadid attended the "Le Grand Diner du Louvre" in a silver-and-gold beaded sequin gown with an asymmetric off-the-shoulder detail. Her blonde hair was styled in a deep part and finger curls with a subtle silver sheen, perfected by her hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. The stylist to the stars coined the unique color "Silver tequila."

“I gave her some roots for dimension, and made the color look more edgy," Giannetos told Vogue. "For the cut, I wanted to combine classic Marilyn Monroe with a very modern and rebellious touch—with some Linda Evangelista in the ’90s.”

Hadid is no stranger to an unexpected shoe-and-sock combo. While modeling for Maybelline last year, Hadid was spotted wearing what appear to be the same pair of striped socks with white-and-brown loafers. She paired the footwear with another pair of straight-leg jeans, a striped rugby shirt, and an oversized moto jacket.
