Ascension Saint Thomas is proud to collaborate with The University of Tennessee Health Science Center through our residency program, helping shape the future of healthcare in Middle Tennessee. This partnership offers world-class, nationally recognized medical education and training for the next generation of physicians—strengthening care across our communities. A big congratulations to UTHSC on earning the prestigious Carnegie R1 designation, recognizing its exceptional contributions to research and education across Tennessee.
The UT Health Science Center has received the renowned R1 designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education acknowledging the significant strength that UT Health Science Center brings to the innovation economy of the state of Tennessee through its campuses in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville. Following UT Health Science Center’s R1 Designation, the University of Tennessee System joins an elite group of 14 public university systems with more than one university with R1 status. Memphis also joins the list as one of only six cities in the country that are home to two R1-designated public universities. Jessica Snowden, MD, vice chancellor for the UTHSC Office of Research says the designation underscores the critical work done throughout the university. “UT Health Science Center’s world-class degree programs and research are focused in the health sciences, which provide life-changing advances for countless Tennesseans, but previously were not accounted for in the Carnegie criteria. Our recognition as a Carnegie R1 institution celebrates the long-standing excellence and achievement of our scientists and educators and our dedicated staff, who support this important work.” Learn more about the life-changing research facilitated by UT Health Science Center faculty, students, and staff: https://lnkd.in/egmJxCcc #UTHSC #Research #UTSystem Randy Boyd
