  • “You can’t move up unless you teach someone else to do your job,” says Benchling’s Head of Workplace TJ Cornell. It’s this advice from his dad that’s stuck with him, from his very first day as a technician. “I’ve found that the more you invest in teaching, the stronger your team — and ultimately, your impact — becomes.” In this interview, TJ shares his approach to shaping workplace culture, guiding principles for creating an employee experience, and why he’s always said yes to every new opportunity. We’re proud to see him recognized! https://lnkd.in/eZbgDKNt #TeamScience

  • Why are employee resource groups so important? “They help to amplify overlooked voices, celebrate diversity of thought and experience, and give back to the community,” says Benchling’s Mae Pickering. As a security engineer, in a field where women are particularly underrepresented, Mae is well aware of the opportunity for impact: “It’s about advocating for diversity, bringing different perspectives, and paving the way for future talent.” That’s why she stepped up to co-lead #Fluoresce, our employee resource group for women-identifying Benchlings and allies. 👏 What is Mae’s career advice? “The decisions and path we choose today don’t have to define the rest of our life. We are never confined to one identity or career!” #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSTEM

  • “Being a woman in tech isn’t something I overcome to do my job — it’s an integral part of what makes me exceptional at it,” says Benchling security engineer Olivia Siow. Olivia, who also co-leads #Fluoresce (our employee resource group for women-identifying Benchlings and allies), shares what it means to be a woman security engineer. In her own words: 🔍 It means bringing valuable perspectives to security problems that may otherwise go unnoticed. The heightened awareness many women develop navigating the world transfers remarkably well to anticipating security risks. 🌟 It means building resilience through constantly proving my expertise, which has ultimately made me a more rigorous thinker and effective communicator. 🥾 It means creating pathways for others by being visible. 💪 It means being part of a powerful transformation in our industry. “Increasing diversity in security engineering isn’t just about representation,” says Olivia. “It’s about building more comprehensive systems and tools that anticipate a wider range of use cases and safeguard all users more effectively.” What’s her advice to other engineers? “Trust your technical instincts. That moment when you sense something isn’t quite right in the code? That’s not imposter syndrome, it’s your engineering intuition coming through. Develop and share your unique technical voice.” #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSTEM

  • “The first big impact of AI agents in science will be automating so much of the toil that happens in the lab: capturing and analyzing data, reviewing and verifying experiments, aggregating and drafting reports, and much more,“ says Benchling co-founder Ashu Singhal. That’s why we’re excited to launch Benchling’s data entry assistant. This #AI-powered tool converts messy, unstructured files (like PDFs and spreadsheets) into clean, structured results in minutes! Find out how we’re tackling the most practical AI use cases across the R&D lifecycle — and what we’ve learned so far: https://lnkd.in/g7Gxx3Uw
