An innovative healthcare research think tank focused on equity, research, and lifestyle medicine.
About us
BZWI is a healthcare think tank that conducts research, incubates and pilots ideas to improve individual and public health, addresses health inequities, and advances lifestyle medicine. With primary funding from Adventist Health and other healthcare stakeholders, BZWI research is currently focused on Food as Medicine, colon cancer in Black/African American men, and filling several other research gaps harming public health. The institute also is deeply involved in policy guidance work, including nutritional training of healthcare providers, food scarcity and equity, hospital reimbursement models and practices, and more. Dr. Dexter Shurney, MD, serves as president of BZWI and oversees a team of researchers, fellows, consultants, and Luminary experts in a range of healthcare, business, government, and economic fields.
