  • When thinking about pay strategy, companies often debate whether to use geo-based pay. You know who has it all figured out? The Tooth Fairy. 🧚💸 Based on the data, the Tooth Fairy’s payouts align with regional wage trends and the cost of living—paying the most in the South ($5.71 per tooth) and the West ($5.69 per tooth), and less in lower-cost areas like the Midwest ($3.46 per tooth). That’s compensation strategy in action! Now, if the Tooth Fairy can recognize the value of geo-based pay, why shouldn’t your org? 📍 Wages are highest in high-cost-of-living areas—places where $100 doesn’t stretch very far. 📍 The cost of living is lowest in the Midwest, where wages also tend to be lower. 📍 And just like salary bands, even the Tooth Fairy adjusts pay regionally (though we'd argue for more pay transparency in the fairy economy). Geo-based pay ensures employees are fairly compensated relative to where they live. Whether you’re hiring admins, engineers, or yes—even the next Tooth Fairy—it’s worth considering how location impacts wages and cost of living.     Suburban Mom with Cool Card Tricks

    I feel like I’ve been overusing the word magical lately, so I tried to come up with some good alternates. Merriam-Webster suggested wondrous, fantastical, possessed, and bewitched, among others.  But none of these quite fit.  So instead, I’m choosing joy. The last two weeks at #HRWest and Transform have been joyful.  It’s been a joy to meet so many amazing, empathetic, and driven HR folks looking for ways to drive positive change in their orgs.  It’s also been a joy to spend time with the incredible CandorIQ team.  Being a remote first company has so many incredible perks, but I do miss getting face time with Haris Ikram, Emma Biskupiak, Matthew Almazan, Sutthipong Thavisomboon, and Chad Atwell.  And finally, it was so fun to see the joy on everybody’s face when Matt and I brought a little levity and magic with our booth card tricks.  If you missed them, you’ll either need to book some time with us, or visit us in May at UNLEASH or WorldatWork.  (We’ll even reveal the tricks if you become a customer ;-) ).
