At the recent One Mind Accelerator event, Stuart Lustig, M.D., M.P.H., National Medical Executive for Behavioral Health Strategy and Product Design at Cigna Healthcare, provided invaluable insights during the payer panel discussion. Stuart, alongside other esteemed panelists like Headway’s Scott Munro, delved into best practices for collaborating with health plans, overcoming common challenges, and fostering relationships that enhance access and equity in mental health care.
The reality is clear: mental health care remains out of reach for too many people. Expanding access requires not just innovation, but deep, effective partnerships between mental health companies and health plans. At the One Mind Accelerator, Headway’s Scott Munro joined an insightful panel to discuss best practices for working with health plans, common pitfalls and how to build lasting relationships that actually move the needle on access and equity. The takeaway? There’s no one-size-fits-all approach — but success comes from aligning incentives, building trust through data and keeping the patient at the center of every decision. At Headway, we’re committed to reshaping how mental health care is delivered and paid for. Because when mental health companies and health plans work together with shared purpose, we don’t just expand access — we build a system that actually works.
