  • Exciting leadership promotions in the city of Aspen! We are thrilled to congratulate CJ Oliver on his promotion to Deputy Director of Community Development. Oliver has dedicated 23 years to the city, most recently serving as the Director of the Environmental Health and Sustainability department for 12 years. “I am excited to have the opportunity to continue my professional journey in the Community Development department, as the work happening across this team is critically important to the future of Aspen,” Oliver said. Additionally, Tyler Sexton has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of Finance. Sexton holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and brings extensive experience in public accounting, including three years as the Assistant Finance Director for the Town of Wellington, CO. “We are thrilled to have Tyler step into this expanded role,” said Finance Director Pete Strecker. “His experience and dedication will be crucial as we continue to focus on strengthening Aspen’s financial strategies and ensuring sound fiscal management for the city.” These leadership appointments advance the city’s commitment to innovation, customer service, and operational success.   • Congratulations to Kate Johnson who was appointed as Aspen City Attorney by City Council Tuesday evening. Kate is a dedicated public servant who has spent the last 15 years working for local governments as legal counsel. She has served as assistant city attorney for the city since 2020. Her predecessor, Jim True, who was City Attorney for the past 13 years, is retiring. However, he will stay on as special counsel for the city at least through this spring's municipal election.
