  • Why did CloudBolt acquire StormForge? It’s about more than technology. It’s about transforming how engineers, platform teams, and FinOps leaders work together—starting with Kubernetes. In this video, CloudBolt CEO Craig Hinkley and StormForge founding engineer John Platt share why this moment matters: 🔹 The real-world challenges platform teams face  🔹 Why manual rightsizing doesn’t scale  🔹 How ML + automation enable continuous optimization without compromising performance  🔹 And what it means to build tools that engineers actually want to use This is the next chapter in our mission to make FinOps contextual, actionable, and engineer-approved. #FinOps #Kubernetes #CloudOptimization #CloudBolt #StormForge #PlatformEngineering #CloudROI

  • Our thoughts exactly, Hyoun Park! 🎯 We're introducing a continuous optimization pattern with StormForge. It starts with Kubernetes, but it will expand to more areas of the technical stack. 😉

The #Kubernetes resource management rollup Begins as CloudBolt Software acquires StormForge. StormForge has been a key Kubernetes resource management vendor throughout this decade with the most recent funding being a $63 million Series B funding round in 2020. StormForge has taken a very clever approach to its resource management capabilities. In particular, I like how StormForge experiments across scenarios in pre-production to optimize across a portfolio of potential deployments. It has been an acquisition target for some time and it’s good to see this pairing. I’ve been pretty clear that both Kubernetes cost and automated Kubernetes optimization are features for a holistic #FinOps solution. Although the ROI of the likes of StormForge or Cast AI or other Kubernetes vendors is very clear as a standalone investment, the challenge of having to manage these costs and resources separately from cloud or hardware or virtual machines or data center is a barrier to entry. And then every standalone K8s resource solution has to either become an integration company to work with every IT provider or team up with another more holistic FinOps or infrastructure monitoring tools. And that integration cost becomes an ongoing sunk cost of doing business. Either K8s optimization companies have to remain fairly small as their growth is constrained by this relatively large technical responsibility or they must team up. Expect every K8s optimization vendor to find its preferred FinOps and infrastructure management partners and to pursue acquisition over time and don’t be worried when it happens. It seems like Insight Partners came to a similar conclusion in looking at these companies, as Insight led the Series B rounds for each firm in 2020. It’s not uncommon for VC firms with a strong hypothesis to invest in companies that start to develop in parallel for similar buyers. And going forward, this pairing allows for continuous optimization across both cost and infrastructure, which is always a challenge for the more ephemeral and flexible workloads broadly associated with the cloud. Over the past couple of years, both the branding and capabilities associated with FinOps have become a hot area for IT managers seeking frameworks for managing the next generation of tech. In that regard, CloudBolt makes more sense as the “host” company for this combination. Overall, I think it’s a great step forward. FinOps vendors are pretty focused on both shift-left and real-time capabilities and trying to get their through observability solutions, but are often skipping this intermediate step of infrastructure optimization between IT performance and cost visibility. CloudBolt has a real opportunity to talk about being more of a continuous lifecycle and continuous improvement solution in the FinOps space, which should be appealing to future customers. https://lnkd.in/d-FkmH7m

  • 🚀 According to Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), 84% of organizations are either using #Kubernetes in production or evaluating it. As Kubernetes continues to evolve and support more workloads, what does the future hold? “There’s still plenty of room for exciting growth for Kubernetes. Growth not only in terms of adoption, but also the underlying platform, the tools and add-ons, and the use cases,” says Bill Doerrfeld. “In any case, the race between usability and complexity seems bound to continue.” Head to InfoWorld to learn more about how Kubernetes is evolving: https://bit.ly/3XwYnNW #CloudComputing #DevOps #CloudNative #TechTrends

  • Every employee is now a procurement person. 🤯 That’s the new reality for FinOps teams trying to keep up with SaaS sprawl. As Nidhi Jain, CEO of CloudEagle.ai puts it: “We don’t have 3 vendors anymore—we have 300. And 10,000 procurement people.” When buying power is distributed across the org, FinOps must evolve to meet it with automation, visibility, and governance that scales. 🎥 Watch her breakdown from the State of FinOps 2025 panel. #FinOps #SaaSManagement #CloudCostOptimization

  • Cloud cost control isn’t always about buying new tools. • A year ago, the cloud migration conversation was all about shutting down data centers. Now? Companies are rethinking their on-prem strategy as AI demands skyrocket. 🚀 In this clip from the State of FinOps panel, Omar McIver breaks down why enterprises are suddenly looking back at their data centers—and what it means for FinOps. Are we entering a new hybrid era? 🤔 Drop your thoughts in the comments. ⬇️

  • 🚀As businesses scale their #cloudoperations, managing costs becomes more complex. So, what is the solution? Enter #FinOps. FinOps is emerging as the key approach for cloud teams to tackle financial inefficiencies while aligning with business value objectives. According to Lisa Martin, analyst at Futurum Group “A FinOps culture needs to exhibit transparency, provide accountability and empower cross-functional teams to understand and actively participate in cloud cost management.” Great article from Kathleen Casey in TechTarget News with insights from industry leaders like Hyoun Park, Marco Meinardi, and others on what we can expect from FinOps in 2025 : https://bit.ly/41ECn4Z #CloudCosts #CloudROI #CloudComputing #CloudReport

  • 💸 According to a recent Deloitte report, companies that implement #FinOps tools and practices could collectively save an impressive $21 billion by 2025. So when it comes to embracing FinOps, what’s the hold up? “One of the most significant challenges is the lack of integration between the FinOps and engineering teams responsible for building and deploying cloud applications,” says industry thought leader David Linthicum. “Many well-meaning optimization efforts fall by the wayside as engineers juggle multiple priorities or lack the resources to focus on cost-related improvements,” Head to InfoWorld to learn more about this disconnect and tips for implementing FinOps to save orgs billions: https://bit.ly/4iI1fQ1 #CloudInvestment #CloudCosts #CloudSpend #CloudROI
