We hit 300 mentors today! 🎉 The College Contact network continues to grow, and today we’re celebrating a major milestone. This achievement represents the collective impact of our mentors, students, and partners who believe in the power of relatable, near-peer mentorship. Here’s what makes this milestone even more exciting: 💡 3x Growth in One Year Through organic strategies alone, we’ve tripled the size of our network in the past year, connecting more students with mentors who truly understand their journey. 🌍 Diversity at Our Core 51% of our mentors identify as BIPOC, 31% are first-generation college students, and we now speak 30 different languages across the network. Representation matters, and we’re proud to offer it. 📍 Expanding Our Reach We’ve prioritized connecting with communities in the Midwest, South, and Southwest this year, ensuring that students in underserved regions have access to high-quality, relatable mentorship. This milestone is more than a number—it’s a step closer to ensuring all students, regardless of background, have the support they need to thrive in their postsecondary journey. "How are you confident that college students know how to help high schoolers with their college applications?" 🤔 We get this question a lot, and it's a fair one. The college admissions process can be very technical and complicated, especially considering that EACH student has a different pathway, background, or story they want to tell. 🎯 Beyond the fact that each of our mentors is heavily vetted and onboarded through our rigorous certification course, we are consistently BLOWN away by the incoming talent we see each week from current undergraduates across the country applying to become mentors. Recently, we have had College Contact mentors volunteer to create organic YouTube videos explaining complex college admissions topics for students across the world to access. Madeline Chaffer is one of those mentors who produced an excellent video on one of the hardest admissions essays to nail - the University of Chicago's uncommon prompts.
