Last week, Forging the Future brought together over 200 staffers, founders, and investors in the historic Kennedy Caucus Room on Capitol Hill, just ahead of the President’s address. Co-hosted by Decisive Point and Sachem Strategies, this impactful event fostered a meaningful dialogue on how to revitalize the U.S. industrial base through innovation. 🚀 Propel Maritime Digital Defense Accelerator: Advancing Innovation for the Warfighter 🚀 Last week, despite the impending weather in Norfolk, the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Propel Maritime Digital Defense Accelerator in partnership with Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) hosted a Live Experimentation Event at ODU’s ODU Virginia Modeling, Analysis, & Simulation Center (VMASC), Suffolk. Over the past four months, 10 cutting-edge startups—XONA, ThermoAI, Project Castle (HIGHWAY Ventures), Symbiosis.io, Forward Edge-AI, TeamWorx Security, Ryme Intelligence, NUTS Technologies, Galvanick, and FATHOM5—have engaged in both virtual and in-person programming to refine their technologies for defense applications. Last week, they showcased their solutions to key DoD stakeholders, commercial partners, and investors, who attended both in person and virtually. It was a privilege to host Vice Admiral Michael Vernazza, Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) whose keynote underscored the vital role of collaboration and partnership in maintaining the U.S. Navy’s dominance—ensuring it remains ready to deter aggression, safeguard freedom of the seas, and respond to any challenge. By aligning cutting-edge innovation with real-world DoD mission needs, DIU Propel helps accelerate the transition of critical technologies to the warfighter. ✨ INNOVATION ✨ Yesterday, our Commander, Vice Admiral Michael Vernazza provided the opening remarks at the Propel Maritime Innovation Event which focuses on showcasing cutting-edge technologies within the maritime industry and aims to accelerate the development of innovative solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense. “We are here today because you understand the challenges we as a Navy are facing today. You are thinking, acting, and operating differently to bring to bear capabilities that will help us complete our mission. For over 250 years, our Navy has forged enduring alliances that are essential to the Navy’s maritime warfighting capabilities.
