This week we celebrate #NationalSurveyorsWeek! Our firm is proud to have supported surveying projects since 1956. Today, our firm has grown its surveying capabilities to service clients across a wide range of markets while using the latest technology, including drones, laser scanning, and lidar, all while placing the highest priority on safety and quality. Check out this blog that discusses how our geospatial and survey teams worked together to gather and organize spatial data to support Teton County, Wyoming: https://lnkd.in/edVwXARp In addition to reflecting on what surveyors bring to our projects, this week provides a great opportunity to introduce K-12 students to the many career paths available in the profession. Last year, our surveyors took a look back at the most rewarding projects of their careers, how the surveying profession has evolved, and offer advice for students interested in the industry. Scientific Programmer Scott Lawson, E.I.T., CFM, recently published an article on statistical hydrology in Water Resources Research, a peer reviewed scientific journal published by the American Geophysical Union. The article covers how Scott and his research colleagues extended a traditional approach of flood frequency analysis to incorporate information on how long discharge is exceeded in rivers. The resulting statistical model may be used to predict typical flood durations along a river. Such duration information can improve the predictive capacity of hydraulic and ecosystem models, outline geomorphic trajectories, or inform emergency management plans and flood damage rating curves. Congratulations Scott! View the article abstract here: https://lnkd.in/edbPnfP5 #WaterResources #flooding #FloodModeling

Our New York team was proud to receive two 2025 Project of the Year awards from American Society of Highway Engineers NY Metro chapter! These awards included winner of the Small Project of the Year 2024/2025 under $40 million award for the design-build rehabilitation of the MTA Bridges & Tunnels Rockaway Bridges project, which included the rehabilitation of the Cross Bay Veteran Memorial Bridge and Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge. The Cross Bay bridge project focused on the structural rehabilitation of the navigation span and the replacement of an existing pedestrian ramp to create an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant shared use path across the Cross Bay Bridge. The Marine Parkway Bridge project included the replacement of finger joints and installation of prototype aluminum orthotropic deck panels to determine if replacement of the open grid deck at the truss spans is suitable. As the two project bridges connect to moderately populated areas of the Rockaways that see heavy traffic, our design team’s efforts to create an ADA-compliant shared use path across the bridges will improve bicycle and pedestrian accessibility. Slide 2: Picture of the Rockaway Bridges project team, including Dewberry team member Christopher Sarmiento and Metropolitan Transportation Authority clients Catherine Sheridan, Romolo De Santis, Tom Wynne, and Sam Tabikh, P.E. The second award was for the Pelham Parkway Reconstruction Phases 1 and 2, which received an Honor Award for the Large Project of the Year 2024/2025 over $40 million category. The project involved roadway, sewer and water main system enhancements and focused on reconstructing three sections of the roadway, including 1.7 miles of dedicated bus lanes along a critical corridor in the Bronx. In addition, the addition of improved transportation options via the Select Bus Service (SBS) lane are one of the first of its kind in New York City—benefiting 49,000 bus riders daily. Congratulations to the Collinsville Police Department and our project team on the ribbon cutting for the police department's new facility expansion! Read more about the project in Katie Vondrasek's post below. #PublicSafety #architecture #Tulsa
On Friday afternoon, after about 14 months of construction, the Collinsville Police Department celebrated their Dewberry designed expansion and renovation with a ribbon cutting. The project improves law enforcement operations and benefits the community. The $2.7 million project increased the police headquarters from 6,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet to accommodate new services and amenities for officers, dispatchers and administrative staff. The building will feature a larger detective unit and dispatch center, as well as new and updated evidence packing, private report-taking rooms and workout and training facilities. It will also allow Collinsville PD to increase its officers from 15 to 25. Thank you to Ryce Loyd Haymaker and Beth Keppler, NCIDQ, IIDA, WELL AP, LEED AP for their help and Timberlake Construction for their partnership through this process! Check out this short video on the National Wetlands Inventory (NWI)! Established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the NWI program provides information to the public on the status and trends of our nation's wetlands. NWI data is available to the public and provides valuable information for biologists, conservation efforts, habitat assessments, land management, and much more. While the mapping is conducted remotely, each project requires a field trip where analysts working on the project travel to the area of interest (AOI) to answer questions that may arise while mapping and to confirm classification protocols used across the project. Our analysts have visited Alaska, Pennsylvania, California, and Wyoming among other locations across the U.S. https://lnkd.in/eT-4UHw3 #mapping #GIS #geospatial #technology
