DEC also welcomes Ian Allen to our team this week! Ian comes to us with over 20 years of environmental monitoring and compliance experience in the Tidewater area. With a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and General Ecology from Virginia Wesleyan University, Ian has varied compliance experience including working for the City of Virginia Beach as both a stormwater and civil inspector; construction inspection of roadway, bridge, and development sites including the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion and the Chincoteague Bridge Project; and locality emergency spill response and removal of hazardous materials.  Ian is a dog person who spends any free time with his furry friends along with friends and family. #welcomeaboard #drambyenv #dreamteam

With a focus on streamlining workflows and enhancing organizational efficiency, Emmanuel is passionate about using his skills to support under-resourced communities and drive meaningful impact. Today, February 20th is Girl Day during Engineers Week, a time to recognize and inspire future generations of female engineers. We are excited to highlight DEC's Suzanne Herron, PE, CPESC, whose journey into engineering was influenced by her father, a NASA engineer. Growing up in Huntsville, AL, a city known for engineering and aerospace history, Suzanne naturally gravitated towards science and math. With both family and community encouragement, she followed her father's footsteps and attended Tennessee Tech, where she pursued her passion and met her husband, also an engineer. Their daughter now attends Tennessee Tech for civil engineering! We're proud to celebrate Suzanne and all the amazing women making a difference.
