Forward With Fortitude! Delta Sigma Theta commends the decision delivered on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas that struck down certain provisions of S.B. 1, an egregious Texas law that sharply limits voting access. As we continue our advocacy, this ruling marks a pivotal step in ensuring that every voter, regardless of ability, is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. It stands as a testament to the power and resolve of our Sorority in championing the rights of those who are marginalized. This victory is not merely a legal triumph – it is a beacon of justice, shining a bright light on the systemic barriers erected by S.B.1 and underscoring the state's blatant disregard for ADA compliance within our electoral system. #DST1913 #ForwardWithFortitude #EmpoweringOurCommunities

The 21st Annual Delta Days at the United Nations has officially begun and we are excited to return to United Nations for the 69th Commission the Status of Women! This year we are joined by our sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and the National Council of Negro Women to host the parallel event where we will discuss "Empowered Women: Championing the Girl Child for Transformative Leadership Today." As we convene in-person and virtually, we do so by honoring the resilience of women everywhere. It is women who rise in times of crisis, who lead movements for change, and who build pathways for peace and progress. That is why we remain committed to prioritizing the empowerment of women and girls because we know that when women thrive, entire communities prosper. This is not a time for shrinking but rather rising to the occasion in the spirit of our foremothers to ensure that the next generation of women can have access to education, protection from violence, and pathways to leadership. Stay tuned to for more of our discussions and the work that will continue as we engage, empower, and elevate. #DST1913 #ForwardWithFortitude #DDUN2025

Before the day ends, let’s remember that our fortitude has been on the frontline...since 1913! On March 3, 1913—the day before Woodrow Wilson's inauguration—thousands of women marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in a powerful call for voting rights. Among them were the 22 Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, making history as one of the only Black women’s organizations to participate. The procession, led by Alice Paul and Lucy Burns of NAWSA’s Congressional Committee, was a bold statement against women's exclusion from democracy and a step toward securing the 19th Amendment. "Advocating for women's suffrage was part of our program, and this was our first opportunity to put it into action," said Founder Florence Letcher Toms. #DST1913 #ForwardWithFortitude
