Women have played a key role in shaping housing policies throughout history. This Women’s History Month, we highlight Catherine Bauer, a trailblazer whose work helped influence modern affordable housing programs. As an advisor to the Federal Public Housing Authority in the 1930s, Bauer was instrumental in shaping policies that led to the development of public programs. Located at 1901 Broadway, our transit-oriented urban infill project—Sacramento’s first AHSC-funded development—will offer 140 affordable housing units, including 37 dedicated to permanent supportive housing for those at risk. With convenient access to public transit and community amenities like a resident center, playgrounds, and bike storage, we’re proud to work alongside Brown Construction, Inc. and Assemblymember Maggy Krell to revitalize the Broadway corridor.
