Unleashing Water's Natural Power

About us

Emrgy designs and deploys modular, scalable hydroelectric solutions without the need for construction or dams. Compared to intermittent solutions like solar and wind, the controllable nature of these waterways enable higher capacity factors, do not require adjacent technologies such as storage, and ultimately deliver quicker and greater value to the customer. While in-canal hydro market potential has not been adequately quantified to date, the US market conservatively represents >6GW of undeveloped potential. Emrgy has developed a proprietary, global resource assessment tool to better characterize and quantify the vast, immediately available in-conduit hydroelectric potential. Emrgy's turbine arrays empower our customers to monetize the energy content of their existing waterway asset that is otherwise ignored. We partnered with the City of Atlanta & Southern Company to showcase technological capabilities of the product in 2016, and in 2017 the Company partnered with Denver Water & The Bureau of Reclamation to install the first array of distributed hydropower in the United States.

Check out our article on U.S. turbine manufacturers from our February issue. The United States is home to a number of turbine manufacturers, many of them on the innovative, modular, or small side of the hydro spectrum. In this group article, we introduce three of them: Emrgy, a highly innovative manufacturer of modular hydro systems that are designed to harness the energy in water conveyance infrastructure; Canyon Hydro, a Washington State–based manufacturer of high-quality turbines, many small or medium size; and Alternative Power and Machine (APM), which produces and upgrades extremely small turbines. https://bit.ly/42KbCOC #HydroLeader #Hydro #Turbines #HydroElectricity #Emrgy

The February issue of Hydro Leader is here! While much turbine manufacturing occurs overseas, the United States is home to a number of turbine manufacturers, especially innovative, specialized, and small-scale ones. In our cover story this month, we profile three of them. We speak with Vikram Pande, the director of supply chain for Emrgy, a pioneering modular hydropower manufacturer; Eric Melander, the vice president of sales at Canyon Hydro, a Washington State–based manufacturer that specializes in small- to medium-size systems; and Don Harris, who launched Harris Hydro on an amateur basis and turned it into a business, and Jerry Ostermeier, the owner of Alternative Power and Machine, a manufacturer of extremely small hydro systems, which ultimately acquired Harris Hydro. https://bit.ly/4130jA3 #HydroLeader #Hydro #Hydroelectricity #CanyonHydro #RenewableEnergy

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of our Patents for Humanity Green Energy and Trademarks for Humanity awards! These businesses are working to make the world better for all people through their innovations. Among this year’s winners are businesses that developed a new way to convert household garbage into fuel, use hydrokinetic turbines in renewable sources, and created a mark for its environmental protection services featuring a wave inside of a water droplet that pays homage to water. The competitions recognized innovators who use game-changing tech to meet global humanitarian challenges. Patents for Humanity Green Energy applicants were evaluated on their meaningful actions to make the technology available to the marketplace and the overall benefit they provide to the climate by making energy more sustainable over traditional energy sources. Applicants in the Trademarks for Humanity competition were judged on how trademarks can be used to communicate brand owner’s commitment to improving the environment in a broad spectrum of industries. Check out our article on floating solar at North Unit Irrigation District and how Emrgy Inc. is maximizing a canal system's energy potential from our November/December issue. Next year, the North Unit Irrigation District (NUID) will use a $2.55 million Bureau of Reclamation award to break ground on a new in-canal floating solar project. The project will install nearly 2,200 floating solar panels on a segment of the district’s main canal to generate energy and study the feasibility of the new technology developed by technology company Emrgy. In this interview, Reclamation Project Manager TJ Kaup, Emrgy founder and CEO Emily Morris, and NUID General Manager Josh Bailey talk about the technology’s benefits, from clean energy generation to reducing evaporative loss, and its potential for income generation for irrigation districts throughout the American West. https://bit.ly/4fwwVXi #HydroLeader #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #Hydro #Hydroelectricity #Reclamation

Verdantas Flow Labs assists clients in testing their advanced dynamic turbine designs! 🌊⚡ In 2022, Emrgy Inc. leveraged our Flow Labs to test their initial turbine design. Using the collected data, Emrgy refined their design and returned to test the updated turbine in our large recirculating flume. New design elements tested by Emrgy included movable hydrodynamic walls, telescoping rotor blades, variable pitch blades, single generator, and a new low-cost rotor. During testing, which involved varying flume depths and water velocity conditions, Emrgy’s team analyzed the data to determine the optimal settings for maximum power generation. Verdantas Flow Labs is proud to support companies like Emrgy in advancing environmentally friendly solutions.
