Something big is happening in the Barents Sea now that the Johan Castberg field is on stream. On the surface, we see a large production vessel, but it’s underwater that the true scale of the field becomes apparent. Deep beneath the seabed lie the discoveries of Skrugard, Havis, and Drivis. 240 kilometres southeast is Hammerfest, with a supply and helicopter base. Operated from Harstad, the field is expected to produce for at least 30 years. 🇳🇴 Around 40 percent of deliveries during operation are expected to come from the north, so collaboration with the local community and the supply industry will be important in the years to come. We need smart minds and skilled hands to create value and jobs that will benefit the entire region. 👷🏼♀️ Johan Castberg opens a new region for extraction in the Barents Sea. Additional discoveries have already been made in the surrounding area, which we plan to connect to the production vessel. In this way, we contribute to value creation and employment in the north—and to Europe’s energy security.

⚡ Today we’re announcing the establishment of the new Power business area as of September and the appointment of Helge Haugane as new executive vice president of Power when the business area starts operations. 🔗 The move will combine our renewables portfolio in wind and solar with our flexible power offerings in such areas as gas-to-power plants and energy storage assets – strengthening our competitiveness and value creation in the power market. 🤝🏼While the demand for electricity from renewable power will continue to grow, flexible power will ensure reliability and stability in the power offering to the market. 💨☀️With three mega offshore wind projects underway in the UK, US and Poland and an increasing number of onshore renewables assets, our power portfolio is growing. 🔋🔌 We have also invested in energy storage through battery opportunities in the US, Poland and the UK. Flexible power is delivered by the gas-to-power plant Triton Power, and we’ve made a recent investment decision for the partner-operated Net Zero Teesside in the UK, which will be the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture. “By integrating our power business, we can look across technologies, markets and ownership structures. This will be important for further profitable growth in the rapidly changing world of power,” says Haugane, who currently heads up Gas & Power in the MMP business area. Five ways Equinor uses AI: get a glimpse into some of our 100 different AI initiatives▶️💡 AI is helping us make better, faster, and more data-driven decisions, ensuring that every watt of energy is used efficiently. By leveraging machine learning and advanced analytics, we’re identifying new ways to cut emissions while keeping energy reliable and affordable.     The first episode of the video series on how Equinor are using AI, is a great example of how we are adding value with AI. By reducing the time spent on seismic analysis, we improve the quality and enable our geologists to cover more acreage.   Since we want to give you a better understanding of how Equinor uses AI today, we have put together a mini video series with five concrete examples. 🎬 Here is the first one.  Let me know what you think!

🌊Ripple effects from Equinor in Norway📈  A new report prepared by KPB finds that deliveries within exploration, development projects and operation of Equinor-operated fields and onshore facilities in Norway increased from NOK 134 billion in 2023 to NOK 142.6 billion in 2024.  A full 93% of these deliveries came from Norwegian suppliers located in 260 different municipalities. This resulted in an employment effect of more than 85,000 full-time positions. The greatest ripple effects came from operating our fields and onshore facilities, which accounted for more than NOK 85 billion in deliveries.  Looking towards 2035, we plan to ramp up activity on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) 🇳🇴 And we must work with our partners and the supplier industry to continue to deliver competitive solutions.  If we succeed with this, we’ll be able to maintain value creation on the NCS, as well as preserve high energy deliveries to Europe over the long term 🇪🇺   You can find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dV_F4U8N Or you can dive into the full report ⬇️ (in Norwegian only)

Today we are releasing our 2024 annual report, a year marked by strong operational performance despite a backdrop of increasing geopolitical instability. In 2024, we continued to make a valuable contribution to Europe’s energy security, and high commodity prices – combined with our strong performance – led to strong results 🇪🇺 We achieved high production levels through strong operational performance and efficient turnarounds and made strategic progress by optimising our portfolio through mergers and acquisitions. We continued to develop and execute our portfolio of new projects, both in Norway and around the world, that will drive our long-term industrial success 🇳🇴🌎 We achieved a 5% year-on-year reduction in absolute Scope 1+2 emissions in 2024 and a 34% reduction from the 2015 baseline, and saw an improvement in our net carbon intensity 📉 In 2024, we also welcomed around 2000 new colleagues to the company, renewing and replacing competence and capacity👨🏼🤝👨🏾 Our focus is on producing the energy the world needs today, and at the same time developing the energy systems needed for the future. This year’s annual report is more visual and user friendly – including a new dashboard that makes it easy to grasp our performance in three key categories: operational, financial and sustainability. It also includes a section outlining the future of our business – showing how we’re searching for better through innovations in the areas of artificial intelligence, 3D printing, offshore wind, hydrogen and ammonia, lithium, CCS, direct air capture, and oil and gas💡 All of our annual report downloads and information can be found 👉 https://lnkd.in/gvahmnKk And you can explore a condensed version of our annual report – The Annual Report in Brief – right here on LinkedIn ⬇️
