Ever built a voice AI agent to monitor your codebase? An app to model protein binders for cancer targets? How about a job search agent? A code review bot? Ever tried to build one of these…in under 30 minutes? Now try building one of those… in under 60 minutes. That was the challenge at last week's Flox Activate event, hosted at @GitHub HQ in SF. More than 100 attendees competed to spin up projects fast using tools like Flox, GitHub, Weaviate (a vector database), AgentOps (a platform for AI agents), and Jam (one-click bug reporting). Data scientist and ML engineer Nihal N. took home the grand prize: a pair of Meta Glasses. His winning project? A voice AI agent that watches for and summarizes code changes in a Git repo. Huge thanks to our hosts at GitHub, the vendors and organizers who made it happen, and everyone who showed up to build + learn + hack with us! And we're just getting started! Why store credentials locally when you can fetch them at runtime with your preferred secrets manager? 🔐 Local credential storage doesn't scale to CI or production: 👉 Unencrypted files are a security risk. 👉 Keyrings (e.g., macOS Keychain) require a desktop session and don't work in headless environments. 👉 CI & prod need ephemeral secrets that don't persist beyond the process using them. A better approach? Retrieve credentials at runtime from a third-party secrets manager: ✔️ No credentials stored on disk. ✔️ Works the same across environments. ✔️ No reliance on system-specific keyrings.
