Have you ever thought, "If I know it, everyone else must also know it?" It is a feeling that I have had through out my career, and it’s a feeling many of us in the cybersecurity field experience—imposter syndrome. We hesitate to share our insights because we assume that others have already mastered the same concepts. But here's the truth: Your unique perspective and expertise are invaluable! We all bring something different to the table. Whether it's a fresh take on a common issue, a solution to a tricky problem, or an experience that others can learn from, your knowledge has the power to make a difference. The best part? Even the topics you might feel are "basic" could be life-changing for someone else. Together, we can help each other grow and create a stronger, more knowledgeable cybersecurity industry. Let’s learn from each other—your experience could be the game changer for someone else. The GRASSr00tz 2025 conference is coming up on June 10, 2025, and we currently have our Call For Papers open. Please consider sharing your experience and sharing your perspective. We can teach new tricks to the seasoned and share our seasoned experiences with the new partitioners. #CyberSecurity #Conference #ImposterSyndrome #Community

At GRASSr00tz 2025 conference, we run out speaking tracks to address the area of cybersecurity that you may be interested in, or have knowledge in. The Technical track tends to have the classic deep technical discussions that can range from hacking and red team discussions to security operations and system administration in enterprise cybersecurity programs. The Compliance track is working with the topics that lean more towards the effects of difference compliance programs with the impacts they can have, to the challenges of managing of cybersecurity programs. And the GRASSOverflow track, like STACKOverflow, can have a potpourri of topics that can touch on the other tracks, or be something that is completely off the rails but is cybersecurity related. If you have something that you can share, or you know something you wish would have been explained in clear and concise presentation earlier in your career, please consider submitting a talk to our conference at https://lnkd.in/giNQpcJa . #cybersecurity #GRASSr00tz2025

  • 920Sec meets at the Brickhouse in De Pere this evening. 5:30 pm, towards the back of the main bar area. Look for the long table, come join your people for a nice community hang-out. ChatGPT's suggestions for topics of conversation tonight (and they're actually not awful!): General Industry Trends: What’s the biggest cybersecurity challenge your organization faced last year, and how did you approach solving it? What’s your take on AI tools like ChatGPT being used to strengthen—or attack—cyber defenses? Local/Grassr00tz Focus: What topics or speakers would you like to see at this year’s Grassr00tz conference in June? What’s one topic you’d love to lead or hear a lightning talk on at a future meetup or conference? If you could invite one dream speaker to Grassr00tz this year, who would it be? How do you think we can better engage the local cybersecurity community between now and the conference? Emerging Threats and Solutions: What new or emerging threat actors are you most concerned about right now? What tools or strategies have you recently discovered that made a big impact on your cybersecurity efforts? Networking and Career Development: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received for working in cybersecurity? For those hiring, what are the skills or certifications you value most in candidates right now? Fun and Community Building: What’s your favorite cybersecurity meme or inside joke? If you could eliminate one type of attack forever—phishing, ransomware, or DDoS—which would it be and why?
