𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗙𝗛𝗜𝗥-𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵? 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Microservices allow components to be developed independently using different programming languages. This enables scaling services as needed without affecting other parts of the system. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: The main challenge is managing communication between services. Well-defined and stable APIs are necessary for this. 𝗛𝗟𝟳 𝗙𝗛𝗜𝗥: FHIR offers advantages for microservices architecture: • Pre-built Domain Model: FHIR provides a ready-made domain model, simplifying changes and coordination between teams. • Standardized Terminology Management: FHIR helps manage large code systems in healthcare, such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, and ICD-10. • Pre-built API Model: FHIR offers standardized patterns for synchronous and asynchronous interactions between services. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: There are two main approaches: • Database per Service: Ensures service independence but can complicate management. • Shared Database: More natural for FHIR, as it provides centralized management and semantic consistency. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗛𝗜𝗥-𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: • For new systems, design with FHIR in mind from the start. • For existing systems, a gradual migration strategy is required. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗛𝗜𝗥-𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀: They provide semantic interoperability and simplify integration with other systems. New Resource Browser The Resource Browser is the core of Aidbox. It’s useful for reviewing the loaded resources and making decisions based on that. But the problem with our old Resource Browser was that it displayed data in JSON, a relatively unreadable data format. It was still useful, but one had to process it themselves to get some value out of it. Today, most of the Resource Browser data with type information has a custom display based on its type. I.e., human names display as “Ms. Jane Doe”, and addresses display with a line, street, city, and state. FHIR-first resources are especially good for that—they provide all the necessary information for turning data into text. Aidbox tries to process resource contents to an understandable format, but that is not always possible, especially for custom data extending FHIR. In case there’s no information on what format fits the given resource property, we fall back to the old JSON display, but that’s a rare case and most of the data displays readably. There’s more to it than just text, though! Some references (as per FHIR requirements) link two resources against each other, and you can follow these links without processing the data yourself. For example, US Core Procedure resources have links to Encounters, Locations, and Patients, and you can click on these links to jump to respective resources and work with them—without leaving the Resource Browser. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆: 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 & 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 Recently, we added two new forms to the Aidbox Form Gallery. These forms can be used as they are or customized to fit specific clinical scenarios. https://lnkd.in/deuK78Jy 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 This form helps assess lifestyle-related risk factors, including diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol use, stress, and family history. It is designed to support preventive care by identifying individuals at risk for chronic conditions. • The form layout is structured for ease of use, with some fields appearing only when relevant based on previous answers. • Coded fields are included for tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and overweight/obesity, with extraction logic to **FHIR Observation** resources. • BMI is automatically calculated based on entered values. https://lnkd.in/de5bdDxv 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 A structured form for documenting wounds, tracking healing progress, and supporting treatment decisions. It is based on the LOINC Wound Assessment Pnl and customized to improve usability. • Allows multiple wounds to be documented within a single form. • Supports attaching multiple wound photos. • Includes options for marking wound locations. • Some fields are displayed only when needed based on conditional logic. • All fields are coded using LOINC terminology. https://lnkd.in/dMpHaDCA These forms are available for testing without authorization. We are continuously expanding the Aidbox Form Gallery. If you have forms that need structuring or digitization, feel free to share them with us. https://lnkd.in/dw8sarMY
