It is worth understanding the market dynamics and game theoretical incentives that drive its adoption, security, and long-term value proposition. From miner behavior to network effects, and from scarcity-driven demand to strategic accumulation by institutions and nation-states, Bitcoin sits at the center of a complex economic and social coordination game that continues to evolve in real-time. Here's a helpful overview of Bitcoin which can be reimagined to apply to healthcare industry market dynamics. 🔄 Market Dynamics of Bitcoin Supply & Demand -Fixed Supply: Only 21 million BTC will ever exist. This hard cap creates scarcity. -Halvings: Roughly every 4 years, Bitcoin rewards to miners are cut in half — this reduces new supply and historically leads to bullish price action. Demand Factors -Institutional adoption (ETFs, corporate treasury buys) -Retail speculation -Macro factors like inflation and fiat debasement -Geopolitical instability (Bitcoin as a hedge or exit ramp) Liquidity & Trading -BTC is the most liquid crypto asset — most trading pairs are denominated in BTC. -High liquidity = lower slippage and tighter spreads, which attract large players. Network Effects -Bitcoin has the most secure and decentralized network. -It acts as a reserve currency in Web3 and DeFi, especially when used as collateral or wrapped (e.g. wBTC on Ethereum). 🧠 Game Theory in Bitcoin Proof of Work (PoW) -Miners are incentivized to act honestly because attacking the network is extremely costly. -The game theory ensures that the most rational choice is to support the network, not attack it. Holder Incentives -Hodlers (long-term holders) benefit when others also hold — creating a cooperative game with aligned incentives. -Selling into FUD often penalizes the seller more than the network. Miners vs Users -Miners want higher fees, users want cheaper transactions — but both want a secure, functioning network. -This creates a balanced equilibrium over time. Nation-States & Regulation -Some governments may attempt to ban or tax BTC, but others see strategic advantage in embracing it. -The more decentralized it becomes, the harder it is to kill. This paper investigates how digital medicine tools contribute to the treatment burden in patients with diabetes through qualitative patient interviews. 1️⃣ Patients identified five categories of digital tasks: device maintenance, lifestyle changes, data sharing, administrative burden, and patient education. 2️⃣ Three main factors exacerbate digital treatment burden: personal factors (e.g., dependence on technology, concerns over accuracy), situational factors (e.g., travel disruptions, device removal for medical procedures), and structural factors (e.g., data synchronization issues, insurance complexities). 3️⃣ Two major consequences of this burden were identified: improved operational efficiency and quality of care (e.g., easier data sharing, better health recommendations) but also significant disruptions to daily life (e.g., alarm fatigue, logging burden, social visibility of devices). 4️⃣ Patients often struggled with managing multiple digital tools, requiring time-consuming maintenance and adaptation to frequent updates or system failures. 5️⃣ Many participants valued the health benefits of digital tools over potential privacy concerns but reported stress due to inaccurate device readings and trust issues with manufacturers. 6️⃣ Digital medicine’s impact on social and professional life varied; while some tools allowed discreet management, others were constant reminders of the disease. 7️⃣ The study highlights the need for designing digital tools that minimize patient workload, improve usability, and reduce administrative and financial burdens. ✍🏻 Misk Al Zahidy, Sue Simha, Megan Branda, Mariana Borras Osorio, Maeva Haemmerle, Viet-Thi Tran, Jennifer L. It is a common misconception that Blockchain was invented in 2008. Blockchain Technology has been around since the early 90's. Cryptographic signing of data using private keys and adding data to blocks in the form of a chain, Public key cryptography, Merkle Trees, time-stamping, proof of work, and hashing - all existed long before Bitcoin's blockchain was launched.
