International Women’s Day Highlight 💖 Here at IBEW Local 47 we support the women in our industry as the trailblazers that they are and support you on your journey of success. ⚡️ Introducing, Crystal Shaw Muwwakkil, Construction Maintenance Support Specialist for Southern California Edison (SCE) Monrovia District. What is your current position and what brought you to this industry? I am the Construction Maintenance Support Specialist for the Monrovia Service Center, supporting District Distribution Operations. I began my career at SCE in 2006 as a non-represented employee and transitioned from CED in 2018 to a represented payroll accountant before joining Monrovia in 2019. What advice would you give other women wanting to get into the industry? Here are some pieces of advice for women looking to enter the industry: 1. Believe in Yourself: Confidence is key. Trust in your abilities and do not be afraid to take on challenges. 2. Seek Mentorship: Find mentors who can guide you, provide insights, and support your career growth. 3. Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with industry trends and continuously improve your skills through training and education. 4. Network: Build a strong professional network. Attend industry events, join relevant groups, and connect with peers. 5. Advocate for Yourself: Do not hesitate to speak up for your ideas and contributions. Ensure your voice is heard. 6. Work-Life Balance: Strive for a balance that works for you. It is important to take care of your well-being. 7. Embrace Diversity: Leverage the unique perspectives and strengths that diversity brings to the workplace. Best ways to challenge yourself and find encouragement to be successful? My three recommendations to challenge yourself and find encouragement for success: 1. Set Clear Goals: Define what success looks like for you and set specific, achievable goals. Break them down into smaller milestones to track your progress. 2. Reflect and Adapt: Regularly reflect on your experiences and adapt your strategies as needed. Learn from both successes and setbacks. 3. Stay Positive: Maintain a positive mindset, even when faced with challenges. Focus on solutions. #womenshistorymonth #ibew47 #unionproud

International Women’s Day Highlight 💖 Here at IBEW Local 47 we support the women in our industry as the trailblazers that you are and support you on your journey of success. ⚡️ Introducing Clarissa Robles, Water Treatment Operator for Abengoa Solar. Here is a little info about Clarissa and her take on International Women’s Day. 🌸 What is your current position and what brought you to this industry? I never expected to become a water treatment operator at an industrial solar power plant. When my family fell on hard times, I was determined to take an avaible job. I came across a security guard position, and despite having no experience I applied. I was given an interview the next day. After completing the guard training, I secured the job, which happened to be at the site of my current employer. I showed up, worked hard, and took every overtime opportunity. Along the way, I got to know the power plant employees and learned about their roles. When a water treatment position opened, I applied, openly acknowledging my lack of experience. Unfortunately, they had someone else in mind. However, a few weeks later they offered me a different position, to which I accepted immediately. I soon learned the company provided additional pay for certifications, so I took the initiative to earn my water distribution and water treatment certificates on my own. At the time, I had no idea I would apply for a water treatment operator position - but when the opportunity came, I was ready. Today I hold that role, proving that hard work, adaptability, and seizing opportunities can lead to unexpected and rewarding career paths. #womenshistorymonth #unionproud #ibew47
