Abigail Saito is a nurse on the medical intensive care unit at IU Health University Hospital. She began working on this unit four years ago as a patient care assistant and knew then she wanted to care for some the hospital's sickest patients. "I've had the opportunity to work with some really great, highly skilled nurses and I know they all have my back," said Abigail. "We have the opportunity to work alongside the doctors, too and I think just getting that experience... has helped me grow into the nurse I am."

Vicki Mferrell spent her entire 40+ year career at IU Health. After retirement, when she couldn't get answers about her sore shoulder, she came to the place she knows best. "I came to Dr. Jacob Triplet basically as soon as he got his practice going here [at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital]," said Vicki. "He discovered a torn rotator cuff and so we decided that the reverse total shoulder replacement would be the correct procedure... and here we are a year later and I couldn't be happier."

In the fall of 2024 Christian Arvin, a nurse at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, lost his right leg in a motorcycle crash. After months of recovery and rehab, he's back to work with a prosthesis. "Six months ago I was laying in an ICU bed wondering if I was going to make it," said Arvin. "Now I'm up walking, doing activities, back to work... life is all about change whether I like it or not. I certainly can't get [my leg back], so how can I make the best of what I do have."
