CEO and Co-Founder at Knot [Hiring!]

Fintech Meetup was an incredible week for Knot. There’s nothing like being in a room with peers and seeing firsthand how Knot and innovative companies are shaping the future of fintech. At the Knot Happy Hour, we brought together hundreds of friends, partners, and customers. The energy was fantastic, and one thing was clear—Knot’s CardSwitcher is now table stakes. On stage, I joined Brian Dammeir and Ximena Aleman on a panel moderated by the great Alex Johnson, diving into open finance. My take? Merchant connectivity is the next wave of open finance. Beyond that, we heard dozens (if not hundreds!) of ideas on how companies want to leverage Knot’s Transaction Link—I’ll be sharing some of the most exciting ones next week. There’s no substitute for in-person conversations—seeing the excitement, talking through real use cases, and witnessing Knot’s impact firsthand. A huge thanks to Sanjib Kalita, Gary Dempsey, Mor Shindler, and the entire Fintech Meetup team for an incredible event. Already looking forward to what’s next—because when it comes to solving fintech’s biggest challenges, it’s #KnotAProblem.

Head of Industry, Banking/Fintech @ Taktile | Publisher @ Fintech Business Weekly | Board Advisor

Big news from the team at Knot with the launch of TransactionLink. Think about it like open banking, but for merchant data: I still remember when Knot cofounder & CEO Rory O'Reilly pitched me on investing in the company and showed me their first product, CardSwitcher. It's probably the ONLY investment pitch I've heard where I immediately said, "Wow, this is so clearly something needed in the market, for both fintechs and banks, where do I send you money?" I'm confident TransactionLink will receive an equally strong (if not stronger!) reception in the marketplace. TransactionLink enables end users to share consumer-permissioned item-level (SKU level) data with third parties they select, including digital wallets and payment card issuers, as well as non-financial apps and services. Benny, which offers lower-income households cashback on their SNAP purchases (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, colloquially known as “food stamps”), has already deployed Knot’s TransactionLink capability, enabling Benny to process rewards “faster than ever.” (Full disclosure: I’m an investor in Benny.) Benny cofounder and CEO Rishi Ahuja explained, “Knot’s TransactionLink has dramatically improved the accuracy and consistency of our transaction data, enabling us to process rewards faster than ever. It’s the most efficient way to scale rewards based on actual purchases, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers. In fact, we heavily push our customers to link with Knot when available — it's that much better!” Big congrats to Rory, his brother and cofounder Kieran O'Reilly & the entire Knot team on the launch!

I couldn't be more excited to announce Knot's latest product: TransactionLink™ With TransactionLink, businesses can now access user-permissioned SKU-level transaction data from top merchants. And yes, I mean down to the nitty-gritty of what you bought: 12-pack of Diet Coke, HSA-eligible Neutrogena Sunscreen, etc. From day one, Knot has been building the merchant connectivity layer. CardSwitcher™ made it 10x easier to update payment methods, and now TransactionLink makes it just as easy to unlock the most valuable data point in commerce: exactly what users buy. This changes everything—for rewards, brand loyalty, expense management, and fintech innovation. And if you’re already integrated with CardSwitcher, you’re just one API call away. 📢 Want to see it in action? Check out the links in the comments for: 🔹 Our first TransactionLink case study 🔹 TransactionLink API docs 🔹 Jason Mikula's write-up 💡 Spoiler: There will be hundreds of companies built on top of TransactionLink. Tag an entrepreneur who should see this, share with your network, and drop a comment—what would you build with SKU-level data?

I couldn’t be more excited to share that 7 of the top 25 finance apps with a card have signed with Knot. 10 months ago, we estimated that 1 in 2,500 new cardholders in the U.S. per day were being provisioned through Knot. Today, it’s 1 in 250, and by this quarter's end, we believe >1% of new cardholders will go through Knot. Next year, if we do our job right, we should be well on our way to double digits. Our existing customers are doubling down on Knot too! Putting Knot into onboarding, incentivizing switches, running notification campaigns, and making sure every cardholder knows they can switch seamlessly. Alex Johnson said Knot will be table stakes, and I think he’s right. But when it is, what's next? We’ve been a little quiet about our bigger vision for Knot. (Hint: it’s not just to be the best card switcher—which we are, by far.) The real goal? Building the best merchant connectivity platform. Think Plaid, Finicity, a Mastercard Company, or Tink—but for merchant connectivity. In the coming weeks, we’re launching a new product that I believe will spawn hundreds of companies—I can't wait to see what people will build with Knot, but until then, stay tuned!
