Black women with endometriosis often face delayed diagnoses and inequitable treatment in the healthcare system. Their experiences, shared in a recent segment on WBGH’s All Things Considered, underscore the urgent need for change.   The discussion, featuring Natalya Martins, MHQP’s Vice President of Programs, highlights these inequities and the work MHQP recently completed in partnership with the Endometriosis Association to develop a research agenda aimed at addressing these issues.   Martins concludes the segment with hopes for a better future in which “Black women with endometriosis don’t have to fight to be believed.”   🎧Listen to the interview: https://lnkd.in/ewNEt65k

MHQP was honored to celebrate the winners of the 2024 MHQP Patient Experience Awards at a special ceremony last night. “Once again this year, we are thrilled to congratulate the winners of the 2024 MHQP Patient Experience Awards,” said Barbra Rabson, MHQP’s President and CEO. “Despite the many challenges primary care is currently facing, these practices found a way to provide best-in-class experiences for their patients. MHQP has released data today from our 2024 statewide Patient Experience Survey which shows that patients are reporting difficult accessing primary care clinicians for a fourth year in a row, while scores in all other areas of primary care experience have rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. This is especially significant and relevant against the backdrop of some important policy steps the state has taken to begin addressing the fragile state of primary care in Massachusetts. While MHQP and the The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) have been monitoring the health of #primarycare in the Commonwealth through the Massachusetts Primary Care Dashboard, the Milbank Memorial Fund and the The Physicians Foundation have been tracking key metrics of primary care performance nationwide though the national Primary Care Scorecard. Here are some of the alarming facts revealed in the 2025 Primary Care Scorecard released today, showing how underinvestment in primary care Is failing US patients: 🌟 Primary care accounts for less than 5% of total US health spending and our fee-for-service payment system doesn’t reward primary care. Average reimbursement for a primary care visit is one-fifth of reimbursement for a gastroenterology visit. 🌟 The percentage of nurse practitioners and physician assistants in primary care has dipped to new lows. 🌟 Fewer new primary care physicians are entering the workforce in states with more GME funding. 🌟 Only 24.4% of new physicians entered primary care, marking the lowest rate in a decade.
