🔧 Forging a Path in Mechanical Contracting: Women in Construction Spotlight For Stephanie Nelson, mechanical contracting isn’t just a career—it’s in her roots. Growing up in a union family, she was surrounded by the trades long before she officially joined the industry. But her path wasn’t a straight line—before stepping into construction, she worked in eye care. A well-timed opportunity led her to The Waldinger Corporation, where she’s spent the past six years building her career. Starting as an Analyst, Stephanie worked her way up to be Assistant Service Manager, gaining valuable experience and an even deeper appreciation for the industry along the way. Now, she’s proof that mechanical contracting is full of opportunities for those willing to take the leap. Looking back, she only wishes she had joined sooner! Beyond her role at Waldinger, Stephanie is also a dedicated member of our Women in the Mechanical Industry (WiMI) Committee, helping support and uplift women in the industry. This industry thrives when passionate, driven professionals like Stephanie step in and make their mark. Join us in celebrating her story and all the women shaping the future of construction! #WICWeek #WICWeek25 #WomeninConstructionWeek2025 #WomenInConstruction #MCAofKansasCity #MechanicalContracting #WiMI #WomenintheMechanicalIndustry

The Power of YES: Women in Construction Spotlight 👷♀️ Opportunities in construction haven’t always been a “yes” for women—but that’s changing. More women than ever are stepping into leadership roles, bringing their skills, insight, and determination to an industry that benefits from diverse perspectives. Today, we’re highlighting Elizabeth Kohlstaedt, PMP, Project Controls at Enerfab, who knows firsthand how saying yes can open doors to a fulfilling and impactful career. Here’s what she had to say about her journey: "I began my journey in the construction industry in 2009, when I said ‘yes’ to an opportunity on the Keystone Pipeline Project. What started as a leap of faith turned into a passion for project controls. Over the years, I have immersed myself in every aspect of the field, from budgeting and planning to risk management, project execution, and project closeout. Each experience has deepened my love for the intricacies of project management and the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life. Believing that the best opportunities often come from the encouragement of others, I embraced the idea that saying ‘yes’ can lead to unexpected and rewarding paths. I am grateful for the journey thus far and look forward to the new challenges and connections that lie ahead." Liz’s story is a testament to the power of saying yes—to new roles, new industries, and new challenges. Construction is no longer a “no” for women, and leaders like Liz are proving that every day. As we celebrate Women in Construction Week, let’s continue to break barriers, open doors, and support the next generation of women ready to take on this field. Know someone who took a chance on this industry and never looked back? Tag them in the comments or share this post to recognize their journey! #WICWeek #WICWeek25 #WomeninConstructionWeek2025 #WomenInConstruction #MCAofKansasCity #MechanicalContracting #WiMI #WomenintheMechanicalIndustry

🔧 Breaking Barriers & Building Futures: Women in Construction Spotlight 🔧 This week, we’re celebrating the women making an impact in mechanical contracting. Today, we’re spotlighting Hannah Thomazin, PE Thomazin, who recently earned her Professional Engineer’s license—a huge achievement! She’s working at U.S. Engineering Construction and is an active member of our Young Professionals Committee and Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA)’s Innovative Technologies Committee, helping drive progress in the industry. Here’s what she had to say about being a woman in the industry: "As a young woman in the industry, I've often found myself as the sole representative of my gender in many settings. This past year, I've really leaned into being more authentically myself and leading with my strengths, like communication and patience (and a bit of fashion flare to the boring polo-wearing outfits😆). Construction, to me, is one big problem-solving exercise. Every day is a new challenge asking where and how best to do work, whether it's improving processes or on-site coordination. This industry tests our patience and empathy for others, qualities where women naturally excel, and I find it really rewarding when we overcome those challenges or find a solution to a problem! This week is an important reminder that women are allowed to take up space in this industry and can also make it more vibrant and fun!" Hannah’s words are a perfect reminder of why Women in Construction Week matters. This industry thrives when we bring our whole selves to the table—embracing our strengths and perspectives. Join us in celebrating Hannah and all the women making construction a more dynamic, innovative, and welcoming space! #WICWeek #WICWeek25 #WomeninConstructionWeek2025 #WomenInConstruction #MCAofKansasCity #MechanicalContracting #WiMI #WomenintheMechanicalIndustry
