MedGlobal is a humanitarian charitable non-governmental organization that provides emergency response and health programs to build resilience among vulnerable communities around the world. Our health programs support victims of wars and disasters, refugees, internally displaced persons, and marginalized communities in disaster-affected and low-resource settings. MedGlobal was launched in 2017 by a diverse group of doctors, nurses, global health specialists, and humanitarians to address the health needs of the most vulnerable populations. MedGlobal partners with local communities to address their health priorities, builds resilience through training and education and deploys healthcare volunteers, and donates medical equipment, medications and supplies. MedGlobal field teams support local health programs for vulnerable populations in North and Latin America, Africa, MENA region, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Our growing field teams and partner organizations are supported by selfless volunteer nurses, and medical professionals of all specialties from 27 countries who embrace our mission.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya has been detained without charges for 87 days. MedGlobal is extremely concerned about Dr. Hussam’s health and inhumane treatment, including: -Beatings resulting in broken ribs and a serious eye injury. -Interrogations lasting up to 13 hours. -Solitary confinement for 25 days. -Denial of needed heart medication. -Restricted from speaking to his legal representation. Dr Hussam is a medical professional. With no charges against him, he deserves his freedom. And the people of Gaza deserve his medical care.

Yesterday, Nassar Hospital in Gaza was bombed. MedGlobal volunteer Dr. Feroze Sidhwa’s patient was killed, when he should have been going home. Nasser Hospital bombed moments ago. MedGlobal staff and international volunteers are in the hospital. Patients and medical care givers are at extreme risk. Casualties received by MedGlobal colleagues who are giving care while trying to stay safe. No warning or evacuation order was given. Nasser Hospital is one of the last remaining operational hospitals in southern Gaza and serves as a vital medical lifeline. Hospitals are protected spaces under International Humanitarian Law. MedGlobal urgently appeals to the warring parties to immediately stop the bombing.
