Memorial Health is pleased to announce Blake Romero, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has joined the organization as its new Chief Nursing Officer. Blake holds a Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree and a Master of Science degree in Nursing – Leadership from Western Governors University. Our BEE Award recognizes patient care techs (PCTs) and administrative care techs (ACTs) who deliver compassionate quality care to our patients. Congratulations to our most recent BEE Award winner – Susan Dasher in our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (unit). She was nominated by a patient’s family member. The nomination said, “She is always so personable; she asks about me and my baby and works to build relationships with the NICU families. Ms. Dasher went above and beyond by helping me with a cart to move my belongings to the Ronald McDonald House.” Susan, thank you for all you do for our patients, families and colleagues. St. Patrick’s Day is a kind of a big deal in Savannah! Everyone wears their green for the big day! We wanted our babies in our mother/baby unit and Level III neonatal intensive care unit to be in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit. Let the shenanigans begin!

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., and yet it is one of the most preventable cancer with early detection? Dr. Elizabeth McKeown, Memorial Health colorectal surgeon, and members from our Anderson Cancer Institute visited the Habersham Branch YMCA to help spread the word on colon polyps, malignant polyps, colon cancer, and other colon health issues.

Advocating for Quality Healthcare Today, leaders from across HCA Healthcare South Atlantic Division gathered at the Capitol to collaborate with lobbyists on legislation impacting healthcare. Memorial Health CEO Brad Talbert, and Vice President of Business Development Shelly Harrell joined fellow healthcare leaders to share insights on the critical role our hospitals play in the healthcare system and advocate for policies that support our patients and communities. We remain committed to advancing healthcare excellence in Georgia and ensuring access to quality care for the residents of southeast Georgia.

Our Memorial Health Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah patients and families need not to worry if they have a snack attack, thanks to the Core Credit Union - Statesboro branch. Their colleagues recently conducted a team building event which included packing 400 snack bags that they recently delivered to our children's hospital. Let the snack attacks begin!
