The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people in six counties. Meet our Water Champion of the week, Rosalind Atkins. With a tenure spanning 27 years, Rosalind has been an indispensable member of our Board Support Team. Metropolitan’s 38-member Board of Directors sets the policies that will provide water supply reliability for Southern California. For 27 years, Rosalind Atkins has been part of the Board Support Team, which serves as the critical link between Metropolitan’s staff and the district’s board of directors, who are appointed by each of its 26 member water agencies. The Board Support Team ensures that directors receive the necessary information to make informed decisions on programs, projects and policies. Throughout Rosalind’s tenure , she has managed a wide range of responsibilities, including archiving of board documents, coordinating board travel and logistics, and helping to facilitate meetings. Rosalind started her career at Metropolitan in Human Resources. After her first year, she has exclusively been a member of the Board Support Team and is currently its longest-serving member. She enjoys her role so much that she can't imagine working in any other department. #WaterChampions #WorkerMonday

Metropolitan is funding a new innovative stormwater capture project that will recharge the Orange County Aquifer and help water managers understand the benefits of stormwater capture. “This project is just one more example showing the transformation of Metropolitan – in addition to importing water, we’re taking measures to adapt to the changing climate through local actions like studying the benefits of stormwater capture,” said board Chair Adán Ortega Jr. Read more: https://t.co/uoEngZTIDr

Metropolitan dedicated the 13-mile San Jacinto Tunnel, a key link to the Colorado River Aqueduct, Thursday morning in honor of Randy Record, who chaired Metropolitan’s Board of Directors from 2014 to 2018. He served on the board for two decades, representing @easternmuni. “We are naming this facility today after a fixture in our region’s history – someone who guided us through some of the most dire challenges we’ve faced as an agency and put us on a positive trajectory for the future” said Metropolitan board Director Gloria D. Gray, who served as chair following Record. Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/gkSU5xnN #SanJacintoTunnel #ColoradoRiver
