When retired first responder Bernard Gifford was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and a benign tumor growing along his spine, he was referred to Dr. Roger Härtl, co-director of Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Härtl devised a plan to both relieve the pain and nerve compression caused by the stenosis and remove the tumor, all during one minimally invasive procedure using advanced microsurgical techniques and 3D stereotactic navigation. Today, Bernard is pain-free and lives an active lifestyle. On #NYPAdvances, Dr. Härtl discusses Bernard’s case and the importance of collaboration in achieving the best patient outcomes: https://nyphosp.co/41A6YRc Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medicine

One patient, Sato, was so excited by his gift that he yelled, “I got the best present!” before taking Henrik on in a game of air hockey.
