📣 EMPOWERMENT IN ACTION: What does real self-care look like during a cancer journey? At Patient Empowerment Network, we’re constantly asking: What happens when lived experience meets evidence-based self-care? The answer? Wisdom worth amplifying. We asked our Empowerment Leads - patients who’ve turned advocacy into action - what helped them emotionally and physically through treatment. 🧠 Jessica turned to yoga and made it work for her body. 💬 Carly found power in conversations and community. 😴 Linda prioritized rest—and unapologetically so. 👉 These aren’t just self-care tips. They’re micro-strategies that enhance resilience, reduce isolation, and model how patients can become co-pilots in their care. 🎯 Why does this matter to industry leaders, clinicians, digital health innovators, and nonprofit strategists? Because when we design systems that integrate peer insights, we create more human-centered cancer care. 📈 According to a 2022 Cancer Experience Registry report from Cancer Support Community, patients who engaged in peer support and mind-body practices reported: 22% improvement in emotional health 30% increase in treatment adherence 3X higher satisfaction with care navigation Let’s reframe empowerment—from a buzzword to a measurable, replicable model. It starts by listening to those who’ve walked the path. 🗣️ We want to hear from you. What are you doing to embed patient voice in your strategy, program, or product design? 🔗 Explore more voices like these: PowerfulPatients.org #PatientEmpowermentNetwork #OncologyLeadership #DigitalHealth #HealthEquity #CancerCare #CancerAdvocacy #PatientVoice #HealthInnovation #SelfCareInCancer #PatientExperience #LinkedInForGood Tracy Rode, CNE Aicha Diallo, MPH, CHES Andrea Winchell Joelys Gonzalez Bisono Kara Rayburn Nicole Normandin Nykema Mpama Linda Ryan Carly Flumer, MS Jessica Catlin

Breaking the Silence on Anal Cancer Awareness: Why Early Detection Matters Did you know anal cancer diagnoses have risen nearly 3% annually over the past decade? Despite its increasing incidence, stigma and discomfort in discussing symptoms continue to hinder early diagnosis, significantly impacting outcomes. Today, on #AnalCancerAwarenessDay, Patient Empowerment Network urges healthcare professionals and industry leaders to foster open, stigma-free conversations about symptoms and screening. Evidence shows that survival rates improve dramatically when patients feel empowered to discuss sensitive symptoms early. 💬 Let's discuss: How is your organization removing stigma around sensitive cancers and promoting earlier diagnosis? #CancerAwareness #HealthEquity #PatientEmpowerment #OncologyCare Tracy Rode, CNE Aicha Diallo, MPH, CHES Andrea Winchell Joelys Gonzalez Bisono Kara Rayburn Nicole Normandin Nykema Mpama

The #MMCollective aims to fully inform people of their myriad options and more effectively connect them to all available resources in their behalf. One such resource, of course, has been immunomodulators (IMIDs), which remain the bedrock therapy in #multiplemyeloma for both patients and practitioners. Let’s dive deeper. Learn why: https://lnkd.in/e_g6Cvub 📹

March is National Social Work month! Today, on World Social Work Day, Patient Empowerment Network celebrates the theme 'Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing'. As Joachim Mumba, International Federation of Social Workers President, so eloquently puts it, "Together, we can build a world where compassion and solidarity lay the groundwork for lasting well-being for everyone." This aligns perfectly with the National Social Work Month theme, 'Social Work: Compassion + Action', highlighting the profession's dedication to turning empathy into tangible change. In oncology, social workers bridge emotional care and clinical success, enhancing patient outcomes across generations. How can we better integrate social work into oncology care models to leverage this intergenerational solidarity and compassion-driven action? Share your insights and let's discuss! #WorldSocialWorkDay #SocialWorkMonth #CompassionPlusAction #OncologySupport
