Attending and speaking at MAPS this week in New Orleans was an absolute pleasure (and privilege). From seeing former colleagues, to spending time with clients and my RC colleagues -- one message is loud and clear: Medical Affairs is no longer perceived as a supportive function—it’s a strategic force for organizations. It was energizing! Kudos to the entire MAPS organization and industry Medical Affairs leaders who hosted such an amazing meeting. As a Market Access leader, I see significant opportunities for synergy across our disciplines. Here are a few that stood out: ✅ Medical + Commercial: From Siloed to Synchronized True collaboration is about more than "compliance-friendly communication." Case studies in cell and gene therapies show that co-led advisory boards and shared insights across stakeholder journeys help to expand access, shape payer narratives, and close care gaps. We are seeing this more and more and need to build ways of working that allow teams to do this—compliantly and consistently. ✅ Evidence Generation: Timing is Everything From early data gap identification to real-world evidence that supports access and adoption, medical teams are increasingly leading the charge across the product lifecycle. The implication for access: we need to engage earlier and align on what “value” looks like at every stage. ✅ Digital Maturity = Competitive Advantage MSLs are continuing to operate as data-driven, digitally-enabled field strategists. With capabilities like trigger-based engagement and omnichannel orchestration, they’re positioned to deliver insights that inform both opinion leader, community provider and payer outcomes for organizations. ✅ Resource-Constrained Doesn't Mean Impact-Limited Even small, lean Medical Affairs teams are showing how thoughtful roadmap design, outsourced partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration can drive strategic launches and amplify patient outcomes. Clear takeaway: Operational excellence isn’t about size—it’s about clarity of focus. ✅ Impact > Activity The push to move beyond activity metrics is gaining real momentum. Medical Affairs is starting to measure what matters—shifts in clinical behavior, access barriers removed, and improved patient outcomes. These could also become shared metrics across Market Access and Medical Affairs team, especially as field and account coordination, planning and performance are shared accountabilities. Curious how others are integrating these learnings across Market Access and Medical Affairs functions? At Real Chemistry, we are building these bridges with and for clients and would love to help you innovate here. The bridge between access strategy and medical engagement has never been more critical—or more possible. #MAPS2025 #MarketAccess #MedicalAffairs #EvidenceGeneration #DigitalHealth #HCPEngagement #PharmaLeadership #LaunchReadiness #RWE Real Chemistry Medical Communications Real Chemistry

AI is redefining what's possible in precision medicine. But here's the catch: these innovations only matter if they connect with HCPs, patients, and other key stakeholders. At Real Chemistry, we're not just observers of the AI revolution; we're the storytellers who connect groundbreaking research with day-to-day applications. In our latest blog, Jared Wels, PhD and Sara Schmitt, PhD explore how AI is shaking things up in: - Early cancer detection - Computational pathology - Chronic disease management From AI-driven liquid biopsies that detect cancer early to wearables that transform chronic disease management, the potential is immense—but so are the responsibilities in medical communications.
