Thank you FAA! 🇺🇸 After years of hard work, we have come to an agreement on how to use our flight simulation platform for certification credit. This is a huge accomplishment (for us and the FAA!) as it will enable us to show compliance to stringent autoland and autotakeoff safety requirements using simulation runs to augment our flight test cases. To put this in perspective: * "Normal use" autoland, which is well understood for multi-engine jet aircraft, is very uncommon for single-engine turboprop aircraft. * Our agreement leverages and tailors many of the simulation methods used to certify large multi-engine jet aircraft (Part 25) so they can be applied to single-engine turboprops (Part 23). * The agreement also covers autotakeoff and autotaxi simulation, which is pretty new and novel for all types of aircraft! We have been awarded an innovation grant by AFWERX to advance the development of an autonomous hydrogen-electric aircraft! As the innovation arm of the US Air Force (DAF) and powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), AFWERX brings cutting edge American ingenuity from small businesses and start-ups to address the most pressing challenges of the DAF. As part of this feasibility study, we will explore the integration of hydrogen propulsion into a Cessna Caravan aircraft alongside advanced automation technology. Our research will provide valuable insights into how hydrogen fuel cell propulsion can lower operation costs and detectability, enhance the capabilities of autonomous air vehicles, and mitigate fuel supply risks in forward-operating environments. The FAA has published a lot of guidance on how to certify new technology for use in airplanes. Many flowcharts and process diagrams have been made trying to explain it. Here's my take on a simplified, digestible cliffs notes version. Some restrictions apply, see regulator for details. Ask your DER if certification is right for you. Side effects may include temporary euphoria followed by an extended period of delayed gratification.

Highly trained and skilled air traffic controllers (ATC) manage 16 million flights each year and deserve the most current and innovative safety-enhancing technologies to perform their jobs. Last week I had the opportunity to go on a roundtrip ride-along with Reliable Airlines between KABQ and KFMN and I had a blast! (if you can't tell from the picture). It was fascinating to spend an afternoon talking to someone that flies the C208 daily while sitting in the cockpit at 12,000 ft. As someone that spends a lot of their time at Reliable Robotics Corporation working on simulating the C208, I also appreciated the opportunity just to fly in one for the first time. It is one thing to look at time-history plots of dynamic responses, but it is another to experience the dynamics first-hand.

We are excited to welcome General Richard D. Clarke (ret.), former Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command and General Mike Minihan (ret.), former Commander of Air Mobility Command as members of Reliable’s Defense Advisory Board. It was an honor to discuss the crucial role that standards developing organizations play in the advancement of aviation safety-enhancing technology and remote piloting.
