Spring Forward ⏰ Just like this anhinga, it’s time to soar into longer days. More daylight means more time to explore, discover and enjoy the District’s public lands. This is a photo of a female anhinga flying over the Kissimmee River. The #anhinga, also known as the “snake bird” or “water turkey,” is a waterbird native to #Florida. This diving bird is commonly seen perched on branches, along banks and on structures with its wings outstretched to dry them after taking to the water in search of small fish, shrimp, amphibians, crayfish, young alligators and snakes.
