Two weeks ago, at the FIDIC - International Federation of Consulting Engineers Global Infrastructure Conference in Geneva, Sheladia's President & CEO Manish Kothari spoke on the investment gap found in infrastructure projects, noting the critical role of pension and insurance funds as financiers. The discussion drew a clear conclusion: The future of infrastructure investment lies in strong partnerships and well-structured, bankable projects. #FIDICGIC24 #infrastructure #engineering #infrastructureinvestment #ESG
“Show Me the Projects, and They Will Be Funded” – A Call for Investable Infrastructure Projects At today’s FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference in Geneva, experts echoed a resounding message: bankable projects are key to unlocking #InfrastructureInvestment. In the session, Show me the money! - De-risking and leveraging infrastructure investment, industry leaders discussed how de-risking strategies and clear project structures are essential to attract the $139 trillion needed for sustainable infrastructure to achieve net zero by 2050. Manish Kothari, President and CEO of Sheladia Associates, Inc. and FIDIC board member highlighted the investment gap, noting the critical role of pension and insurance funds as financiers. The panellists agreed—it's not the lack of money but the lack of investable, de-risked projects that poses the challenge. Jerome Haegeli of the Swiss Re Institute aptly stated, “The money is there, but bankable projects are not.” To move forward, there must be a focus on creating investable projects with transparent lending practices, an emphasis on #ESG standards, and collaboration between the public and private sectors. Key insights from the session: ✅ De-risking strategies like risk guarantees and credit enhancement are vital for making projects attractive to investors. ✅ Public-private partnerships will be crucial to bridge the infrastructure gap. ✅ FIDIC’s role in shaping robust projects is essential to ensuring global infrastructure development. The future of infrastructure investment lies in strong partnerships and well-structured, bankable projects. #FIDICGIC24 #infrastructure #engineering

Sheladia Associates, Inc. celebrates National Professional Engineer Day 2024! Did you know that the very first professional engineering license was issued nearly 117 years ago? Charles Bellamy was issued the first PE license on August 8, 1907, in Wyoming. Earning your PE is no small feat! Engineers must earn a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program; pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam; complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a PE; and pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam. PEs not only shoulder the responsibility for their work, but also for the lives affected by that work! That work is our bridges, buildings, roads, roller coasters, space shuttles, artificial hearts, irrigation and clean water systems, even running shoes and so much more! We appreciate, support, congratulate and celebrate our PEs and engineers in training today and every day! #LicensedPEday #LicensedPEday2024 #professionalengineers #PEday
