"Over the past decade, the rate of Postpartum Depression and Preeclampsia has doubled, and still only 25% of women are reaching baby feeding medical recommendations alongside their personal goals. The health and well-being of a parent is deeply connected to baby feeding and yet they are always treated in silos. That’s why we are steadfastly dedicated to changing the model and wrap each family in complete care." says Andrea Ippolito in this PR announcing our latest round of funding. SimpliFed's mission has always been to support families, and now we're able to support them in every way they need. Huge thank you to our existing at investors Morningside Technology Advisory LLC, The Venture Collective (TVC), Empire State Development, Waterline Ventures, many previous Angels, and new investors at The Artemis Fund Cultivation Capital, and American Heart Association Social Impact Fund for further fueling our goals. A recent article published in Health Affairs and co-authored by Andrea Ippolito, discusses the persistence of racial and ethnic disparities in breastfeeding rates and duration. The article argues there is a way to help close these gaps: Telelactation! At SimpliFed we know this to be true! Virtual appointments means greater access, flexibility, comfortability and so much more. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gTi2gBNA #breastfeeding #virtualcare #telelactation
In their new Forefront article, Lori Uscher-Pines, Jill Emicri, Kortney James, and Andrea Ippolito from RAND and the University of Pittsburgh discuss how, although the United States has made significant progress increasing overall rates of breastfeeding in recent years, racial and ethnic disparities persist in who breastfeeds and for how long. They argue that telelactation—video visits with lactation consultants—can significantly improve these rates. "The causes of breastfeeding disparities are complex; no one intervention will solve this problem. Our findings, however, suggest that telelactation can help. The next big challenge is how to implement state and federal telelactation policies that realize this promise." Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/420BELB

According to the March of Dimes Preeclampsia affects 1 in 25 pregnancies in the US. And while many families affected by preeclampsia go on to have healthy pregnancies, preeclampsia is serious and can be life-threatening. Still, it isn't common practice for women to self-monitor their blood pressure at home. Our Clinical Program Manager Jessica Lloyd, MPH, BSN, RN, CLC, C-FPHW, tells us why it's essential we start! 👏🏽 Remote patient monitoring enhances access to healthcare 👏🏽 Remote patient monitoring enables early detection and intervention 👏🏽 Remote patient monitoring empowers patients to actively participate in their healthcare #preeclampsia #maternalhealth

Andrea Ippolito was at the WBL (Women Business Leaders of the US Health Care Industry Foundation) Summit earlier this week when she was struck by a very common sentiment among women. Mom guilt (n): the overwhelming feeling of never doing enough for your child. And mom guilt can come out in so many different ways, for so many of us. So we polled our team and here are some of their ‘mom guilt’ moments. 🐔 “I fed my kid chicken nuggets last night instead of cooking” ⚽ “I had to miss my daughter’s soccer game for an important meeting” 🤱🏽 “I stopped breastfeeding because it was affecting my mental health” But really should anyone feel bad for putting food in their kid’s belly, excelling at a job that helps support a family, or protecting one’s wellbeing? The answer is obviously no. Women can do it all, yet our society is still not set up to help women and families do any of it. The pathway to true guilt-free happiness is working to change what sometimes feels like insurmountable barriers. SimpliFed is doing our part. Are you? What we need more of: ⭐ Access to virtual healthcare covered by insurance ⭐ Adequate paid family leave ⭐ Judgment-free support ⭐ Destigmatization of maternal mental health #womenshistorymonth

A recent study shows proof that postpartum depression directly correlates to changes in the brain. The study claims researchers scanned dozens of brains before and after pregnancy and showed specific parts of the brain responsible for emotional control increased in size with symptoms of PPD. The first study of its kind, research like this is imperative to continually understand why perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression happen, who could be more susceptible and how we can intervene as early as possible--Also underscoring the critical importance of better and more comprehensive screening. "The future is already here, it's just not evenly distributed." Here at SimpliFed we know this to be all too true. But the time is now to speak up and out, like our very own Andrea Ippolito says. Innovation is happening everywhere, we just need to open our eyes to see it. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to our colleagues, partners and patients! We see you. #iwd2025
I've been at the League Connect conference for the last few days and one of the speakers shared that "the future is already here, it's just not evenly distributed." There are so many innovative tech solutions that can help close the care gaps in healthcare-- that are only getting bigger. And I can think of no better example of this than maternal health, which is downright medieval at times despite all the advances in AI, devices, data, and more. But we need to speak up and out. Let's find a way to bring these advances in the maternal health care pathway to the front stage! Who's with me? And happy International Women’s Day! #maternalhealth
