  • 401Gives ends at 6pm tonight! If you’re looking for a way to give back to your community, please consider making a donation to Sojourner House to help us continue our life-saving work. In 2024 Sojourner House helped 1,918 Rhode Islanders on their journey to safety. With your help, we can make it through this funding crisis without having to scale back any of our services. ➡️ Victims of abuse need more support, not less. ‼️ Our neighbors are relying on us to be there for them during their darkest days; to offer them and their children shelter, compassion, and a pathway to freedom. We can’t let them down. 💜 The flood of donations that came in yesterday were truly incredible. We’re so close to hitting our goal and just need a few more kind folks to pitch in. Can you lend a hand to help protect these vital services? Donate: https://lnkd.in/e_6VhbGi

  • 401 Gives is here and we’re counting on your support. At Sojourner House, we deal in new beginnings. Every day, we receive new requests for help from victims of abuse in crisis situations. They’re looking for someone to support and empower them while they rebuild their lives; someone to offer them safety and compassion. When they find their way to Sojourner House, we jump into action. In calendar year 2024, we served over 1,918 clients with shelter, housing, and essential supportive services. With your help, we can continue to do this lifesaving work. At present, our organization is in crisis. More than 80% of our funding comes from federal sources, and we've been told to expect significant cuts in the coming months. Already, we're doing more with less and have a waiting list for our housing programs and counseling services. And victims of abuse cannot and SHOULD NOT wait for care. We want to strengthen our programs but can't do that with greater funding. Any donation you can make today is truly appreciated. To support Sojourner House during 401Gives, visit the link below. You have until 6pm Wednesday to participate. Thank you in advance for your generosity 💜 https://lnkd.in/e_6VhbGi

  • Tomorrow is the start of 401Gives-- Rhode Island's statewide giving extravaganza! Please consider making a donation to Sojourner House to help our team continue to provide safe housing, emotional counseling, and life-saving supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking across Rhode Island. As many of you already know, our agency is in the midst of a funding crisis. More than 80% of our nearly $12.5M budget comes from federal sources, and we are expecting significant cuts in the coming months. This is funding we rely on to: 💜 Provide rental assistance to clients; helping them to remain housed and avoid eviction 💜Pay the salaries of our school based advocates, clinicians, housing navigators, and crisis advocates 💜Help our shelter clients purchase groceries and household essentials 💜Cover legal fees for survivors in divorce or custody proceedings 💜And so much more. The funding we HAVE is already not enough to meet the needs of our community. Our shelter beds are nearly always full and we have waitlists for our housing programs and counseling services. Victims of violence should not have to wait for care. The result of this lack of resources can be-- and has been--devastating. ❤️🩹 This Spring, we're looking to our community for help. Tomorrow, with our involvement in 401Gives, we'll kickstart a two-month long fundraising campaign aimed at raising $350,000 to support our advocacy work. The campaign will end on May 30th with our 10th Annual Sojo Mojoe Breakfast. 🎁 401Gives Power Hours!🎁 6am - All 401Gives donations will be matched until funds run out; so your gift could be doubled! 12pm - All 401Gives donations will be matched until funds run out; so your gift could be doubled! 4:01pm - All 401Gives donations will be matched by $20 each until funds run out! $5=$25 $20=$40 🤩 Give: https://lnkd.in/e_6VhbGi

We’re honored to have artist Sydney Darrow joining us at our upcoming Sexual Assault Awareness Month exhibition, “Dear Survivor.” 💜 Thursday, April 3rd 5-7:30pm 💜 1570 Westminster St, Providence We’ll be displaying her oil painting “Dreamer” and charcoal sketch “Desert Time,” which are both pictured below. 🎨 Artist reflection 🎨 “I just ended a nine year abusive relationship with a man I met when I was 16 and he was 25. It took me nine years to see the relationship for what it was. The unfair power dynamic, the coercion, the physical assault, the manipulation.... These art pieces were both made in the midst of that realization. The pieces were transitional and were an essential part in processing everything that had happened along with how to move forward and heal.” - Sydney Darrow 📆 We hope you’ll join us on April 3rd from 5:30-7pm to experience Sydney’s art (and the rest of our showcase) in person. 🖼️ Interested in adding your art and voice to the exhibit? There’s still time! Click here: https://lnkd.in/ei_8ahxB 🧏♂️ASL interpreters are available upon request. Just send us a message!
