📢 Announcing Our Largest Humanitarian Aid Shipment to Ukraine! We are thrilled to share that our next humanitarian aid shipment from the USA to Ukraine is on its way! After extensive consultations with our partners in the USA and Ukraine, as well as local authorities in Ukraine, and with the generous support of our funders, we are preparing shipments of state-of-the-art medical equipment and supplies for fourteen hospitals in frontline cities - Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Nikopol. This will be our largest aid shipment to date as we continue to scale up our assistance to Ukraine. In the coming weeks, we will be working closely with the Project C.U.R.E. team across the USA to prepare cargo tailored to the urgent needs of hospitals in Ukraine. The planned shipment includes five 40-ft containers filled with life-saving medical supplies for hospitals that serve those in critical need. Since 2014, Support Hospitals in Ukraine has been tirelessly delivering essential medical aid from the United States to Ukraine. To date, we have provided $7.5 million worth of medical aid - and we are committed to doing even more. As a volunteer-driven initiative, we operate with zero overhead costs - no office, no salaries, no administrative expenses - ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to those who need them most. These achievements are only possible thanks to our generous supporters! Your contribution is more than a donation - it’s a powerful statement of kindness and a lifeline to those in need. On this International Women's Day, we stand in awe of the incredible strength and resilience of the women of Ukraine. Amidst russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, they continue to lead with unwavering courage—on the frontlines, in homes, hospitals, and communities they protect and nurture. Their perseverance in the face of adversity is a testament to their unbreakable spirit! At Support Hospitals in Ukraine, we remain committed to providing the resources and aid that support these women and their families. Together, we can ensure their voices are heard, their needs are met, and their future remains full of hope. Let’s continue to stand by them—today and every day. In 2024, our latest cargo delivery to Ukraine 🇺🇦 shipped in partnership with Project C.U.R.E. included state-of-the-art ICU beds for the largest family hospital in the Dnipro region, which focuses on women's and maternal health. Over 35 months, russia has damaged or destroyed 2,285 Ukrainian medical facilities For nearly three years of full-scale war, russia has systematically attacked and bombed healthcare facilities, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, polyclinics, maternity wards, and more. As of mid-February 2025, the enemy has already damaged 1,984 medical facilities and completely destroyed another 301. The most severe losses have been recorded in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. It is currently impossible to obtain complete information about the extent of destruction in medical facilities located in temporarily occupied territories. Additionally, Russian forces have damaged 240 emergency medical vehicles, destroyed 273, and seized 80 ambulances. Despite the war, ensuring Ukrainians have access to quality and affordable medical services remains a top priority for the state. Thanks to reconstruction and renovation efforts, doctors can continue providing medical services, and patients have uninterrupted access to essential healthcare. In the darkest times, true partnerships shine the brightest—illuminating the path of hope, resilience, and unwavering support. When war tests the strength of nations and the resilience of people, it is solidarity that makes a difference. Through unity and shared purpose, we can provide life-saving aid to those in need, ensuring that hospitals remain operational, doctors have the tools to heal, and patients receive the care they deserve. On the sidelines of the 2025 Ukrainian Week in Washington, DC, our team had the honor of participating in a special ceremony celebrating the U.S.-Ukrainian partnership. The event recognized years of collaboration in delivering critical medical aid from the USA to Ukraine, ensuring that hospitals and healthcare workers have the resources they need to save lives. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our long-standing partner in the United States, Project C.U.R.E., for receiving an honorary award from Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Dnipro Regional Council. This is the highest recognition in the Dnipro region, acknowledging Project C.U.R.E.’s invaluable contributions to strengthening the local healthcare system. Dr. Douglas Jackson accepted the award on behalf of Project C.U.R.E. Our team was represented by Vitaliy Dubil and Joseph Colao, who accepted the award on behalf of the Support Hospitals in Ukraine team, our dedicated funders, and partners across the U.S. and around the world. This recognition is a testament to the unwavering commitment of countless individuals and organizations standing with Ukraine in its fight for freedom and a brighter future. As we look ahead to 2025, we remain committed to expanding our humanitarian aid efforts to Ukraine. The Dnipro region is Ukraine’s largest industrial and economic center. Given its proximity to the front line, it has also become a critically important medical and aid hub for wounded civilians, military personnel, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the region has received nearly 425,000 IDPs, including 91,000 children. Meanwhile, 64 medical facilities have been partially or completely destroyed by missile and drone attacks, placing an enormous strain on the local healthcare system. Since 2014, Dnipro and the region have been the largest recipients of humanitarian medical aid delivered by Support Hospitals in Ukraine. During Ukrainian Week in Washington, D.C., Vitaliy Dubil from Support Hospitals in Ukraine and Dr. Douglas Jackson, President and CEO at Project C.U.R.E., met with Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Dnipro Regional Council, to discuss upcoming shipments of medical aid from the USA for healthcare facilities in the region. #StandwithUkraine

As of 9 January 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) had verified 2209 attacks by Russia on health care facilities in Ukraine. The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine has reached a scale of undeniable severity. With the ongoing conflict, the UN reports an astonishing 12.7 million people in dire need of urgent humanitarian assistance and 9.2 million with health needs. Insecurity, damage to and lack of maintenance of aging health facilities and medical equipment, shortages of medicines and medical supplies, understaffing, and curtailed access to referral hospitals and pharmacies have all taken a toll on the provision and accessibility of health care services. The war's impact on public health is of grave concern, particularly as public funding is redirected towards military expenses. Despite the resilience of Ukraine's health system and generally high access to certain health services, obtaining care near the contact line remains challenging, particularly in rural areas. In conflict-affected regions (“oblasts”), WHO has noted partial or complete disruptions in primary care services and a significant increase in trauma and emergency medical needs. Both prehospital and hospital sectors across the country are overwhelmed with acute trauma and burn patients. Additionally, barriers such as cost, time, and transportation constraints further delay or prevent access to medical care.
