Important: Legislative Update: HB 883 Scheduled for Hearing! Great news for Florida’s healthcare community! HB 883, sponsored by Representative Jason Shoaf, was officially added to the Health Professions & Programs Subcommittee agenda on March 13 at 1pm This bill is a crucial step toward expanding autonomous practice for psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), ensuring better access to mental health care for Floridians—especially in underserved areas. We’re proud to share that Cindy Parsons, Tom Schlepko, Jerri Edwards, and Monica Barfield from the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network have been invited to testify on behalf of PMHNPs. Their voices will be instrumental in advocating for this much-needed legislation. Now is the time to show our support! If you're a Florida NP or healthcare advocate, reach out to your legislators and encourage them to back HB 883. Let’s make history together! Happy Thanksgiving from CAPN! We hope you enjoy the holiday with loved ones. For our colleagues who are working today, thank you for your dedication—we’ve all been there, and your efforts are appreciated! Here are tips to help create a safe and enjoyable day! 1. Wash Hands & Surfaces 🧼Clean hands, utensils, and surfaces regularly to prevent bacteria spread. 2. Avoid Cross-Contamination 🍗Keep raw turkey and meats separate from ready-to-eat foods. 3. Don’t Wash Raw Turkey 🦠Washing spreads bacteria—skip it or sanitize the sink thoroughly after. 4. Cook to Safe Temps 🌡️Use a thermometer to ensure turkey and stuffing reach 165°F 5. Store Leftovers Properly 🧊 Refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour if over 90°F). Use or freeze within 4 days. 6. Brine & Stuff Safely 🥣Use food-grade containers for brining and cook stuffing separately when possible. 7. Stay Alert While Cooking 🥘Never leave cooking food unattended to prevent fires. 8. Fire Safety First 🧯Keep smoke alarms working and flammables away from the stove. 9. Keep Kids Safe ⚠️ Maintain a kid-free zone around hot surfaces and sharp objects. 10. Prevent Trips & Falls 🩼 Clear floors of clutter to avoid falls while cooking Tips are from the USDA and NFPA. https://lnkd.in/ephd8SCR https://lnkd.in/gSd4bqbR
