Accelerating economic growth through public-private partnership.
About us
Working together for all Pennsylvanians in public-private partnership, Team Pennsylvania accelerates the commonwealth’s long-term economic future. A dynamic, non-profit organization, Team Pennsylvania is a statewide entity co-chaired by the Governor and a private sector leader. We are the state’s trusted neutral broker and convener, and we couple collaboration with strategic investment of public and private funds to accelerate Pennsylvania’s economy. We convene cross-sector collaboratives on the most transformative economic opportunities in Pennsylvania: agriculture, energy, and manufacturing, with plans to launch a future collaboration in life sciences/biotech. Each collaborative includes the commonwealth’s top policy-makers and business leaders, as well as leaders of labor, academia, and nonprofits. Together, we tackle the issues that no one sector can address alone to position Pennsylvania as a leader among states and a competitor among nations, maximizing impact for the commonwealth while creating equity and economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.

Still feeling energized ⚡️ after speaking at and attending CMU Energy Week! It was truly an honor to be part of such an important conversation at an institution (my grad school alma matter!) that's not only shaping the future of energy but also pushing the boundaries of AI in ways that will define our next chapter. I was surrounded by brilliant minds, thoughtful dialogue, and a shared urgency to build a more sustainable and intelligent future. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and connect with such an inspiring community. Thank you to the organizers and everyone who made this event so meaningful, namely Costa Samaras, Valerie Karplus, Daniel Tkacik, Katelyn Haas-Conrad, and the other wonderful team members at the CMU Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. 💡🌍 Highlights from the Week: 🌟 Presented our Energy Scenarios work with Rachel Phillips and Adam Walters; 🌟 Served as a panelist for a stimulating discussion about the Energy + AI workforce with Brian Regli, Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy Dean Ramayya Krishnan, Christophe Combemale, and Holly Merriman; 🌟 Attended multiple networking receptions and a power breakfast with industry and academic leaders; 🌟 Listened to some truly compelling keynotes; 🌟 Made some new friends and connected with some longtime ones too. #CMUEnergyWeek #EnergyTransition #AI #Sustainability #Innovation

🌟𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐭🌟 Since joining Team Pennsylvania in June 2023, Julia Kait (Manager, Impact & Innovation) has quickly made her mark. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Julia stepped into her role as a Policy Coordinator with a fresh perspective and a passion for learning. In her first six months, she played an instrumental role in securing nearly $400,000 through a federal ARC grant to support Team Pennsylvania’s manufacturing portfolio. “This role has not only shaped my professional growth but also expanded my ability to think strategically, applying theoretical knowledge to achieve real, impactful results," Julia shared. Outside of work, Julia is an avid cook and crafter—two hobbies that reflect her creative and methodical approach. "Cooking has taught me to be flexible in my approach while still maintaining a focus on the bigger picture, much like problem-solving at work. It’s about adjusting to the ingredients you have and thinking creatively to get the best outcome." 🎥𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐬𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚! ➡️https://lnkd.in/expvXJK6 ****************************** Meet the action-oriented staff of Team Pennsylvania! On Monday, Team Pennsylvania gathered in Pittsburgh to tour Carnegie Mellon University's world-renowned National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) with the Carnegie Foundry. Since its founding in 1995, NREC has leveraged its world-class facilities, talent, and advanced materials to drive innovation and accelerate Pennsylvania’s robotics & tech sector. The Carnegie Foundry then taps into NREC’s innovative solutions to launch startups right here in Pennsylvania, helping to fill market gaps and advance key industries. Pennsylvania has an incredible opportunity to capitalize on its assets and momentum to position itself as a leader in robotics and innovation—and NREC is a global leader playing a pivotal role in making that vision a reality. Together, NREC and the Carnegie Foundry have carved out a unique niche: bridging the commercialization gap between Pennsylvania’s R&D and real-world applications in the private sector, placing them on the cutting edge of emerging industry trends. With faster time-to-market, reduced costs, and lower risks compared to many in-house R&D approaches, NREC’s full-solution, contract R&D model is delivering real results to make Pennsylvania a national leader in this space. For us at Team Pennsylvania, we're thinking about creative applications for robotics and AI to transform the future for the sectors that drive our economy. Thank you to NREC and the Carnegie Foundry for hosting us! #PennsylvaniaInnovation #PennsylvaniaRobotics #Collaboration Richard Fruehauf, Karl Sanchack, Matt Wachter, Jeff Legault, Herman Herman, Lisa Riggs, Rachel Phillips, Kevin Sunday, Abby Smith, Julia Kait, Michael Roth, Adam Walters, Shivum Bharill, Sam DeMarco, Sean Luther David Wade, Ryan Russell

Last Friday, a few days after National Agriculture Day, our team rolled up our sleeves and volunteered at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, where we sorted and packed food for our community. 📦🍎 In just a few hours, our group of 10 sorted over 4,000 pounds of food and packed 32+ boxes—exceeding volunteer records and surpassing the goals they set for the day. Food insecurity affects 1 in 9 people in central Pennsylvania, including 1 in 7 children. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank plays a vital role, serving more than 253,000 people each month across 27 counties. They collaborate with 1,130+ partner agencies and programs to support children, veterans, active-duty military personnel, seniors, and more. We were grateful for the opportunity to step away from our desks, work together, and contribute to such an important cause. Thank you, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, for having us! 🌟🤝🍎 Volunteers are an essential part of CPFB's ongoing ability to serve our community, ensuring that their resources go as far as possible to support neighbors in need.
